Sarah Crossed Border For Canadian Health Care

I think the number of folks here who support Sarah Palin can be counted on 1 hand...

Umm, based on many posts defending her constantly, I'd think that is not true.

Defense of the woman does not equal support for the woman...

I don't support her, but I'd defend some of the completely batshit crazy accusations against her or her family coming from the unhinged leftists...

Lol, don't be ashamed of being a fanboi, the defender lmao.

I wouldn't mind making Arianna huff and puff.

Palin Crossed Border For Canadian Health Care

I was right....

(and only if she kept her mouth shut)...

I followed the link in the huffington post where she supposedly said this

Sarah Palin sees eye-to-eye with Albertans in Calgary speech - The Globe and Mail

It wasn't there.

Is there.

From the link.
We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada. And I think now, isn't that ironic? ”
— Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor and U.S. vice-presidential candidate

I can't count the number of cons I've heard say "Canadians come to America for their care, but no Americans ever go to Canada" or some version thereof. Accompanied by large chest puffing about ":the best system in the world."

Hmph. Guess they were wrong.

but really no big deal if she really was 6 years old, not that Palin is full of hypocrisy in many other things she does

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- who has gone to great lengths to hype the supposed dangers of a big government takeover of American health care -- admitted over the weekend that she used to get her treatment in Canada's single-payer system.

"We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada," Palin said in her first Canadian appearance since stepping down as governor of Alaska. "And I think now, isn't that ironic?"

The irony, one guesses, is that Palin now views Canada's health care system as revolting: with its government-run administration and 'death-panel'-like rationing. Clearly, however, she and her family once found it more alluring than, at the very least, the coverage available in rural Alaska. Up to the age of six, Palin lived in a remote town near the closest Canadian city, Whitehorse.

More hypocrisy from the Fmr. Half Governor.

Link?

Don't bother Mike....it's some BS from Huffington that, first of all, has no solid proof and, secondly, is referring to her childhood...age 6 and younger....it's a waste

Yes, you turd... Batshit crazy accusations...

Are you saying you're incapable of defending your hero zero and now request the help of those of us on the right? Too fucking funny....

So Sarah Palin is now your spokesperson for healthcare reform?....

"Well, we found one person who went to Canada for healthcare when she was six! Lets fuck up healthcare in America" - Democrat Party

According to Talk Radio Neoconartists, we're supposed to judge people based on their pasts.

Sarah Palin is a Canadian government cheese-eater, according to their standards.

If Obama is a terrorist's buddy because of the Ayres thing, then young Palin and her family are socialist lovers, according to her admission.

Isn't hyperbole fun?

It's funny how YoungLefty keeps posting threads but doesn't even bother to debate in his own threads.. Not only this one, but many others..

Hmmm...

So much faux outrage. I'm impressed by the left's ability to create a very small molehill out of an even smaller molehill.

Seriously, you should all be very, very proud of your ability to make yourselves look like a bunch of partisan hacks.

Be fair, Tom. He was too fucking stupid to read the story properly and missed the little snippet about her age. If I'd done that, I'd run off too. But I suppose we could put it down to the ignorance of youth. Or blame the education system - we clearly don't teach kids to read any more.

Remember during the Gulf War, when the Iraqi soldiers would fire dud scuds and run? Same thing happening here...

But then again, what could possibly be said in debate. Palin told Canadians that when she was a little girl, their only means of health care was in Whitehorse...big deal.

Only if your ilk ignored it and let it go away, but no, we must defend Sarah. So enjoy the fruits of counter partisanship.

So she had to abandon the awesomeness of American system and come to Canada because the awesomeness of American system didn't provide the services she seeked? Fuck, abandoning bestest healthcare system in the world for quasi socialism just proves how awesome our system is! No really.

The people reacting to this thread are only slightly more refined than the OP is.

Let's discuss the relevance of the age (since everyone seems to be drawing conclusions from it but not showing their math homework).

The fact that she was 6 means that it wasn't her choice to go get the healthcare. When combined with the fact that she has made her own, different choice now the age of 6 would seem to undercut her as a hypocrite.

Now, there's still a point to be made from the news article. The fact that the trip (regardless of who decided) was necessary and that she benefited from a system that she now assails means that at the very least that system may not be as bad as she says it is.

I haven't read the article...does it tell us what kind of heathcare it was? does it compare the state of Canadian vs US healthcare (either in general for for the procedure she had) at that time?

It's not a gotcha, but it does water down her validity. Basically the value on the dem side of the article is to say her moral outrage is overplayed since she (no matter what age) gleamed a benefit from it.

So stop scaring people with your overblown moral outrage, Sarah, and get down to the brass tacks of hammering out a solution.
