Sandy relief bill does not get voted on

So you just want to bitch and have people agree with you.

You don't really care about the victims of Sandy, otherwise you would have been outraged over the pork attached to it he bill in the name of Sandy victims.

I also thought Obama was cutting through all the red tape and helping all those Sandy victims, are you now saying it is like another Katrina?

So right you are. Here is someone pointing out that there is $9B in pork in the bill.
(In case you missed it New York paid $244.7B in taxes in 2007 and show me one bill for disaster relief that someone could not call some of the bill pork, republicans actually asked for some of that 'pork')

SANDY RELIEF BILL FILLED WITH $9 BILLION OF PORK « The Burning Platform
This is what the slimeballs in Congress do when they think we aren’t watching. First of all there should be $0 spent by the Federal government to bailout New Jersey and New York. The Federal government does not have $60 billion to give. We run a $3.5 billion deficit per day. Every dime of this money is being borrowed, with the bill being passed on to future unborn generations. If the country wants to give $60 billion to people in New Jersey and New York so they can rebuild their houses 100 yards from the Atlantic Ocean, then we need to cut the $60 billion from someplace else. How about food stamps? How about the military industrial complex? How about green energy subsidies? How about the Department of Orwellian Security?

Noooo. We can’t cut anything. Not only can’t we cut one fucking cent from Federal spending, the maggots in DC actually added $9 freaking billion to this bloated waste of a bill for shit that has nothing to do with Sandy. I can’t wait until this corrupt, fetid, disgusting excuse for a country collapses under the weight of debt and lies.

Bipartisan support for the 'pork'.
Alaska fisheries disaster aid tucked into Superstorm Sandy recovery bill | Alaska Dispatch
On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee released a Hurricane Sandy Supplemental Funding bill, which included $150 million for fishery disaster relief and $56 million for marine debris efforts to be shared by several states, including Alaska.

According to the National Review Online, both Alaska U.S. senators, Democratic Mark Begich and Republican Lisa Murkowski, support the incoming aid. In a statement Sen. Begich said that both the salmon shortfall and tsunami debris problem are "very real and very serious disasters." He added that the fisheries disaster was declared so "by the federal government" in September, but that Alaskans are "still waiting for relief." And, although Japan generously gifted $5 million to help with the tsunami clean up, debris still "poses serious navigational hazards and risks to coastal communities" in Alaska.

Sen. Murkowski backed Sen. Begich up with a press release supporting aid to both disasters.

Did New Yorkers pay those taxes to the city, the county, the state or the federal government?

Not sure what The difference in Republican or Democrat asking for pork in a bill, they both should not do it. But partisan whiners seem to love to do it.

It didn't pass because even though it was labeled to be Sandy Hook aid, there was no actual aid for Sandy Hook. There was aid for salmon fisheries in Alaska and mass transit in the northeast not much for the victims. For the victims the proposed aid is the same as the aid they got and are getting. None.

Posts #4 and #5 of this thread give some break down. Over $200B in city taxes? The people of New York City may feel like it at times but no, those are federal taxes.

You can edit you post and I will never tell but this is hurricane Sandy.

Here is a grapic demonstrating the amount of federal money that various states get back for every dollar they send to the federal government. Note that New York only gets back 79 cents for every dollar they send in. So they have been a net supporter of all the welfare states for many, many years. Now the reps of those states are showing they don't give a damn about that, the hell with the people of New York. Real red state socialism.

Boehner's Ohio pays $105,772,774,000 in annual tax where as New York pays $244,672,914,000 and New Jersey pays $121,678,423,000.
Combined that's $105.8B to $366.4B
Ohio pays $9,224.17 per capita. New York pays $12,678.84 per capita. New Jersey pays $14,008.70 per capita.
Combined that's $9K to $26.7 per capita

Ohio's state burden is 9.7% and New York's is 12.8% and New Jersey's is 12.4%.

So Boehner has no problem taking money and turning his back and walking away. Everyone of those representatives who are paving their roads and educating their children and paying their debts with money from the states that they are now turning their backs on should be ashamed.

If Obama wanted it, it would have been done. Instead, he's hopping a flight to Hawaii. So much for his promise to the people of New Jersey. It was nothing more than a photo op to help push him over the electoral finish line.

There it is again - That rw belief that the president writes legislation.

Why is it that rw's don't know that there are three branches of government?

What? What is that? Boehner's Ohio is actually spending New York's surplus?

This just might have something to do with Obama and New Jersey. Perhaps it's republican payback for Christie stepping out of line.

House just called to order. Looks like Boehner isn't showing up. Hoyer speaking

They were suppose to have a vote. That was what everyone was told. Boehner apparently just walked out, didn't even tell anyone the plan changed.

it would be so nice if you knew what you were talking about.

but we're blue states so you don't give a damn how much damage people here suffered.

King, "So in absence of the position of name calling or somehow we're angry or our feeling are hurt, this goes far beyond that."

King laid the blame solidly on Boehner. Said bill "Was exactly in compliance with what the republican leadership asked us to do."

(my quotes might be a word or two off, DVR is a pain)

Blumenauer from Oregon, who blasted, congress for the budget bill being wrong is now speaking about not voting on the Sandy bill. (bicycle pin is yellow today)

Kucinich now talking in support of the bill. This cuts across all lines.
