san francisco may ban infant circumsion

Since when do you need a foreskin to piss? In anycase, let the child decide for himself when he is old enough. You can always cut it off but you can't put it back.

I have never in my entire life heard of a kid who laments the loss of his foreskin.

So how many kids have you heard discuss it?

If they don't discuss then how do you know it's a problem?

Still waiting for the negative impact factoids.

My sister had her cat declawed when he was a kitten, he has the strongest arms of any cat I have ever fought with. He still "sharpens" them on the side of the couch but just doesn't shred the furniture which would have banished him to the cruel world outside. That cat lives a life of luxury and can still do everything a cat with claws can do except destroy things. I still leave bloody after fighting with him, he has his hind claws and his teeth are like needles. Peta, ass usual, is full of shit. Her cat couldn't be more adjusted and happy.

That's a fact. De clawed indoor cats live far longer lives than outside cats. I just lost two of them the last one was 15 years old.

Indoor cats live longer. It has nothing to do with whether or not they are declawed.

We had an indoor cat that was not declawed live to be 20.

I hate to see the sofa.. surely I do.

Maybe we've covered this, sorry but I ain't reading 22 pages...

Ladies? Is there a definite preference?

I never said anything about banning it.

I believe as an educated, enlightened human being that slicing body parts off of an infant is wrong.

Just as I believe docking a dog's ears is wrong. Funny how there are more veterinarians who refuse to dock a dog's ears because it's cruel and inhumane than there are doctors who refuse to slice a chunk of a baby boy's penis off.

Actually the reason vets are having trouble docking is because of the freak show peta.

No not really. I happen to know several veterinarians and none of them have been harassed by PETA.

Ear cropping is not illegal in my state but many vets simply refuse to do unnecessary painful surgery on animals for cosmetic reasons. It's called being ethical and humane.

I live in san francisco.... :eusa_whistle: you know nanny state central where all of the foreskin debate is going on.

EVERY vet within a 100 mile radius lives in FEAR of peta. peta has gotten a declaw law passed in this nanny city..... Vets 1000 miles away where, it is legal to declaw..they are scared to death that peta will fine out and get them shut down.

It will pass just like ever other nanny state bullshit thing they have passed in the past. The only thing it will do is make parents go somewhere else in the bay area to have it done. Or leave their beloved poor out of the loop...again. It would be different if it was a national debate, but it is not. And they wonder why this city is broke.

So it's personal..as is the choice whether or not to have your children circumcised.

Declawing is inhumane. Period. My cat was not declawed. He was wild at 8 years old. Took me damn near 6 months for him to trust me enough to let me pet him. Then he was all mine..and I was all his. He lived to the ripe age of 25. Bone cancer got him. I put him down when he let me know he couldn't take the pain any more. I still miss him.

I am not Peta. But I damn sure understand where they are coming from although I don't approve of SOME of their tactics.

Carry on with penises. I'm done.

And why are people in San Fransicko so obsessed with foreskin? Says a lot about their community no? They have no problem killing a baby but don't you dare mess with those foreskins. No offense, but Socialists/Progressives in San Fransicko really are pretty stupid.

The people in San Francisco want legalized prostituton and drugs, but are against circumcision?
Equating circumcising with shady activities. Good way of looking at it.

I've read many testimonials of people who were circumcised as adults who really regretted it. The foreskin is the most sexually sensitive part of the penis. They said getting circumcised changed the way the felt sexually, reduced their sex drive, and dampened the pleasure of sex. Sex is one of the most intense and pleasurable experiences a human can have. Why would we want to dampen that pleasure?

I never got a chance to see what it was like to have a foreskin as an adult, and I wish I had. I wish I'd been protected from people chopping off crucial parts of my genitals. If something like cutting off a baby's finger is illegal and considered abuse, certainly cutting off a baby's foreskin should likewise be considered abuse. If someone wants to do it willingly as an adult, so be it, but it shouldn't happen in babies.

it is expensive and there is no guarantee that it will work....i think a lot of vets simply consider it a lost art....and it really is bad when you charge a client all that for clipping ears and one falls down....

It's an extremely painful and bloody surgery.

Lol.
You know this how?

Bloody, lol again.
I worked for a veterinarian while in high school. He refused to do ear cropping, tail docking and declawing because he believed his job was to relieve animals of pain and suffering, not be the cause of it.
I saw a kitten brought to him who had been declawed by another vet and who was in terrible pain. She could barely walk for days. It causes permanant nerve damage and the cats can never be allowed outside unprotected.

Ear cropping is painfulwhether you want to acknowledge it or now.

And back to babies. Circumcision is also painful. No anesthesia. Sometimes it;s botched and the baby is permanent disfigured in ways not intended.
