I worry about people who applaud a 'welcome'. They seem a tad weird. Now, I am afraid to say 'welcome' in case it doesn't get applauded.

Time, by contrast, has not.
Ergo, governments ending either has no bearing at all on time continuing...or these events help to ensure that time will continue to march on.
