Romney To Release Misleadingly Edited Obama Video As An Ad

By Benjy Sarlin

Mitt Romney’s campaign will bring a deceptively edited clip of President Obama’s “you didn’t build that line” to a much wider audience. The campaign is taking an abridged version of the video and expanding it into a full ad buy.

The amount of the buy for “These Hands” is still unknown. The ad features Obama discussing the importance of transportation, education and other government investments for the private sector, but selected lines are cut up and spliced together to make it appear as if he’s delivering one continuous passage:

If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

The sentences left out in Romney’s edit clearly indicate that Obama was discussing public services, not the businesses themselves. The quotes cut out of the ad are in bold:
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet. The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together.

Could someone share with me an ad attacking Romney that's "misleading".

He really did say, "Less police, less firemen and less teachers".

He really did say, "He likes to fire people".

He really did take money from nearly a dozen companies when he said he wasn't working there.

He really did try to take credit for saving the auto industry.

The stuff Romney did, he really did.

See my previous post in this thread.

YUO = moron

What really bothers you is that people are accurately representing Obama in his own words without the help of a Teleprompter. Whenever he speaks without a script, he reveals his true ideology. He's a collectivist who thinks we are serfs to Big Government.

Medieval slaves revolted when taxed over 30%. Americans now work half the year just to pay for government.

Here is all you need to know as to why what Obama said was just liberal crapola.

The Ultimate Takedown of Obama’s ‘You Didn’t Build That’ Speech

http://pjmedia.com/zombie/2012/07/18/the-ultimate-takedown-of-obamas-you-didnt-build-that-speech/

When Obama implied at the Roanoke, Virginia rally that some businessmen refuse to pay for public works from which they benefit, he presented a thesis which, like a three-legged stool, relies on three assumptions that must all be true for the argument to remain standing:

1. That the public programs he mentioned in his speech constitute a significant portion of the federal budget;
2. That business owners don’t already pay far more than their fair share of these expenses; and
3. That these specific public benefits are a federal issue, rather than a local issue.

If any of these legs fails, then the whole argument collapses.

For good measure, we won’t just kick out one, we’ll kick out all three.

possed ;)

By now everyone has has been exposed to the full quote, only the republican base chooses to deliberately and ignorantly think he was attacking American business rather than discussing the much hated (by them) concept of social responsibility and the value of collective action. Not going to be nearly as effective as he believes.

Actually, it will. Obama's speech was intended to justify raising taxes on the rich. It is the classic "you didn't earn your money, it belongs to us" class warfare rhetoric.

Everyone uses the bridges and roads that were built by taxpayer money, most of which comes from the wealthy. And even though EVERYONE had teachers and roads and bridges, only a FEW took the kind of risks it takes to make a successful business. So it wasn't the teachers and roads and bridges that made the difference. It was all them.

Obama and people like you can't stand the truth of that. You need to find a way to portray the rich as bloodsucking evildoers so you can tell yourselves that taking more and more and more of their money is not wrong.

So the left taking Romney out of context is okay, yet when Obama says something stupid, in or out of context, you are okay with it.

Romney said and meant all those things. WHAT THE FUCK WAS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT???????????????

Would you fuckers quite whining about something and then not telling us what you're whining about??????????
Fuck!

If you really consider it, the bridges and roads, and most all infrastructure was built by rich people who bought the bonds that provided the money to build. It sure wasn't poor people buying bonds.
