Conveniently, he didn't tell the truth about what his campaign believes, just what the people wanted to hear (kinda like a used car salesman).

The record of his positions gets corrected the next day, but not by him, but by his campaign advisors (who people rarely listen to), and only on the internet or in newspapers, where people would have to go and hunt for it.
