Right Wing Creationist Home School Curriculum Highly Inaccurate And "Really Dumb"

Why in the world would I need to defend one obscure passage in a British homeschooling package? It's completely irrelevant and nitpicky.

Accelerated Christian Education - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Accelerated Christian Education is an American educational products company which produces the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) school curriculum. The home office is in Nashville, Tennessee, with a customer service and distribution center in Lewisville, Texas. According to a study, by 1980 there were over 3,000 Christian Schools in the United States associated with ACE. A European representative states that the ACE program is “being used in thousands of schools and many thousands of home schools in over 100 different countries worldwide.” ACE currently serves over 7,000 schools, one government contract.

It lists its principles in a "statement of faith" which declares the belief that the Bible is literally true.
None of you progressives has yet adequately explained why it's any of your business.

Because, you know...it's not.

And THIS pretty much sums up the asshattery in this thread.

The fact is that this ‘curriculum’ is NOT taught in public schools. How moronic or wonderful it may be is completely and totally irrelevant. No one has the right to dictate what I am going to teach my children should I choose to undertake their education on my own nor is that even possible. To be quite frank, you can even force ones children into public education and the parents will STILL teach them what they want. Any teacher will tell you that it is essentially impossible to teach children without any parental support let alone if they are telling their children that their teachers are dirty hedonistic liars.

At the end of the day, it is none of the naysayers business. When and where this is pushed in PUBLIC schools then you have a say and can rail against this all you want.

It's been two days since I asked my question.

Not one single answer has been offered by those who think this is horrible.

They know it's none of their business, and it has zero effect on them, but they STILL think they should have a say in it.

Screw 'em.

Here comes the attacks on homeschooling

the brainwashing can't be done to them if they're not FORCED into the little camps for leftist indoctrination called, schools

True.

Homeschooling works and works well hence the criticism of certian details.

The fact is creationism is dumb and not accurate.

But in the end unless perhaps a child is planning a career as in paleotology it is unimportant.

Not that this is to anyone's surprise,..

A popular curriculum used by home-schooled students has drawn criticism for inaccurate, misleading information and an over-reliance on rote memorization, but those aspects may not be the worst things about it.

A lot of the material that children are exposed to in the Accelerated Christian Education is just astonishingly stupid, according to a former Christian fundamentalist.

Blogger Jonny Scarmanga shared some of the multiple-choice questions he found in some ACE packets used by British home-school students Monday on the blog, Leaving Fundamentalism.

In one question aimed at 9- or 10-year-old fourth-graders, students are given this example: “Children played happily in the water spout.” They are then asked to define a water spout from three examples: “a stream of water,” “two dry ducks” or “playground.”

Creationist home school curriculum isn?t just inaccurate ? it?s really, really dumb | The Raw Story

And now for a bit of perspective:

"The Left says of the Right, “You fools, it is demonstrable that dinosaurs lived one hundred million years ago, I can prove it to you, how can you say the earth was created in 4000BCE?”

But this supposed intransigence on the part of the Religious Right is far less detrimental to the health of the body politic than the Left’s love affair with Marxism, Socialism, Racialism, the Command Economy, all of which have been proven via one hundred years of evidence shows only shortages, despotism and murder."

Now, really, don't you feel stuuppppppid?

What is that supposed to have to do with the fact that the Biblical version of creation is a myth,

one of many many religious creation myths?

They are hamstringing their children. Making them noncompetitive for future jobs. Cool. More jobs for Democrats. But I do hate giving them welfare.

Holocaust deniers would be able to hold a degree of legitimacy equal to the Creationists,

if the Holocaust had occurred millions of years ago. Off camera.

They envision a red state secession, and a new confederacy, officially Christian...

...and they mean real Christianity, not that watered down progressive mumbo jumbo Christianity.

All kids really need from home-schooling is reading, writing, basic math up to elementary algebra (5n=20, n=4 type stuff,) and how to upload videos to youtube. :) Creationism, evolution, other abstract topics are moot. No one gives a F* about that stuff unless they're involved in politics. Scientists are convinced, creationists are in denial, and no one else gives a poop.

Only a small amount?? where do you get this crap from?

One can not be a "christian "when one rejects god

The use of heretical, and evangelical as the same descriptor....is well wrong.

What is a reactionary evangelical anyways??

Most Christians do reject evangelical and fundamentalist Biblical literalism as heresy.

A Christian certainly does not reject God by rejecting Biblical literalism.
You speak for Christians about as well as you speak for Republicans, boy.

Actually I am correct far more than your pronouncements of error.

The right needs to learn to respect science and the left needs to learn how to respect the family. Both can shake hands and start working on advancing America.

Really? You think it's the left that doesn't respect families?
