Some might prefer it. It should be up to them, not you. At 6k a year for a plan for example that's 3 years. Or they could have a high deductible plan for such emergencies and not use insurance for smaller care. Shopping across state lines would help and tort reform would help keep cost down.

It's meaningless to you because you are not too swift. A huge part of medical care in this country is doctors having to practice lawsuit avoidance above all else. Malpractice insurance is sky high, many OBGYNs quit outright. They perform every test conceivable to cover their asses. That drives up medical costs.

States regulate the insurance industry. This state added one thing after the other for mandatory coverage and drove it out of reach for me. Making insurance national would very definitely help lower costs, each state would not be able to dick around with the plans.

I think Collins had the best option of allowing states to keep their Obamacare coverage if they were satisfied with it. Other states would get some sort of Health Savings Plan, tax deduction program
