Republicans responsible for even more lost jobs

Siemens to lay off 400+ Iowa workers; congressional failure to renew wind credit blamed

Siemens has notified local communities that it is reducing the workforces at its blade manufacturing plants at Fort Madison and Hutchinson, Kan.

Siemens spokesperson Melanie Forbrick says 407 employees will be laid off at the Fort Madison plant. A total of 220 will remain at the plant, which has 600,000 square feet. The Fort Madison plant is the largest employer in the city.

The layoff will be the second in Iowa this year. Clipper Windpower in Cedar Rapids reduced its workforce there by 76 workers of its 300 employees beginning on Aug. 27.

Wind energy interests have warned that job losses are inevitable if the 2.2 cents per kilowatt hour production tax credit is not renewed by congress before its Dec. 31 expiration.

U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley said that the tax credit is part of a package of so-called "extenders," also including the $1 per gallon tax credit for biodiesel, that are to be taken up by congress after the November election.

So now we're for corporate welfare (when it fits the proper social profile)?

I wonder if you even remember your stand in this post:

Why is it such a crazy notion for the government to not be allowed to spend more than what they're bringing in?
They should work on bringing more in. Eliminate corporate welfare, and make billionaires pay their fair share.
I don't know if there are any billionaires at Siemens, but there are some pretty rich guys associated with them. I guess in this situation they are "job creators", huh?

Failure to give Obama cronies money...

Got it.............

The plan was to obstruct everything from Day 1. It has worked pretty well and kept millions of people out of jobs. But it isn't working so well in getting the one person they want out of his job. Thanks for the incompetence of Mitt, Obama will probably see a second term. Then the GOP will have to come up with another plan to fire him...LOL

Is it the GOP's fault those miners are out of work? The miners that Synthia believes deserve to be unemployed?

When did you start supporting corporate welfare?

Coal pollutes. Wind does not.
How do you think the metals are mined and refined for the towers and electrical components of those fool contraptions, unicorn farts and pixie piss?

Ever heard of coke (no, not the drink or white dust you jam up your nose)?...Ever heard of the steel that was made without it?

How about copper for the electrical armatures?...Where the hell do you think that comes from?

If you liberoidal bozos weren't short-sighted, you'd have no sight at all.

The coal mines are in trouble because power companies are switching over to natural gas which is now much cheaper.

BTW, did you see the coal miner for Romney commercials? Turns out the CEO is doing the talking, not an actual miner. In the other one, miners were forced to attend, without pay, a Romney rally they didn't want to go to. That it went on air and they weren't paid for it is illegal.

None of the coal miners I know want to be coal miners. They'd much rather have safer, cleaner jobs that won't shorten their life expectancy.
