By Hillary's second term, the SCOTUS will be leaning way to the left, 6 to 3 or maybe even 7 to 2. And 3 of those 6 will probably be under 30 years old and make Garland look like a hardcore rightie. ROTFLMAO.The Republicans could thank their lucky stars to get Garland.
All things considered, he seems like a pretty moderate pick.
.
Garland is the best offer they will get. Hillary may not be so kind if Garland gets withdrawn
Republicans played political gamesmanship and appear to have lost. They will rush to confirm Garland in a lame duck Congress if Hillary wins and the Dems take the Senate
It may be too late
True...Hillary may be patient in knowing she will get to name 3-4 Justices during her tenure. Garland may be acceptable if Hillary knows in the long run she will get a 6-3 or 7-2 court. Rumors are that Clarence Thomas may not relish being on a liberal court and would resign after 25 years on the court.
But Dems may have learned their lesson about a Republican Senate. If a Republican Senate will allow a court seat to go unfilled for a year waiting for a new election, why not two years? or three years
If Hillary gets a Democratic Senate in January, she has a two year window to put in the judges she wants. She has no assurances that Dems will hold the Senate in 2019
