Republicans eager to return to Bush era policies. Why?

Republicans eager to return to Bush era policies. Why? I've seen Republicans on this board insist Iraq was a success. The Bush tax cuts "worked". The reason people died after Katrina was their fault for not leaving. Iraq is now a democracy and friends with America.

How do they see things so different than the rest of the world?

Yes, that really translates into the claim of the OP :cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

I'm always amused with the desperate attempts by progressives here to run against W again. Sorry, Kiddies but George W. Bush is back in Texas relaxing on his ranch. YOUR guy's been in the Oval Office for the past three and a half years and now that we've seen the reality behind all of the "Change You Can Believe In!" baloney Barry's going to have to run on HIS record....and it's not pretty.

quick question. If the bush tax cuts didn't work, why did obama extend them?

oops!!!!!

It was ransom for the American workers the CON$ervoFascist GOP held hostage, as if you didn't know!

That's funny, he didn't say anything about hostages when he signed it.
President Obama thanked Vice President Joe Biden and members of the House and Senate from both parties, who joined him for the signing ceremony.

"We are here with some good news for the American people this holiday season. By a wide, bipartisan margin, both houses of Congress have now passed a package of tax relief that will protect the middle class, that will grow our economy and will create jobs for the American people," he said.
"There are some elements of this legislation that I don't like. There's some elements that members of my party don't like. There's some elements that Republicans here today don't like. That's the nature of compromise. Yielding on something each of us care about to move forward on what all of us care about," President Obama said. "It's a good deal for the American people, this is progress and that's what they sent us here to achieve."

In fact, it seems like he thought it was a pretty good idea.

he didnt?

It's a vicious circle. Neg rep, stupid topic.

Oh I see. So because he said it WHILE the actual hostage taking was underway it doesnt count. Only if he repeated everything he said along the way.

Anal retentive much?

I guess his opinion "EVOLVED" between Dec 7th and Dec 17th.

I guess so.

Look you can disagree with his choice of words. You can disagree with his assessment ( and I would probably agree with you on that one. ) but to say he didn't say it? Well, that's dishonest.

There was an entire controversy around that statement.

I am still trying to figure out what Obama is doing that is different than Bush.

Another thing: Obama caving on the tax cut extention was one of his biggest failures. He had to eat it from the Republicans on that one.

Pretending it was perfectly ok with him makes it into an Obama victory instead of what it was: Obama being weak.

Why did a leftie start a Bush thread? In fact it seems most the Bush threads on here are started by the left sorry guy's but unlike 2008 your man Obama will have to run on his record in 2012 not against Bush's.

Becuase Obama's record is poor. They have nothing else. So they blame some one else.

It’s the power of rightwing dogma: don’t think, just believe.

You also have some conservatives who believe the problem wasn’t the policies, the problem was Bush.

Why do Republicans want to return to Bush era policies? Because they believe doing the same thing over and over will bring a different result.

It’s gotten to the point where republicans/conservatives don’t even know what their ‘policies’ are. The hyper-partisanism, hypocrisy, and inconsistency of conservatives over the last 20 years has blurred and contorted their message to the point of meaningless irrelevance.

i think someone said that about the Democrats in California.....

The GOP wants to return to Bush policies because they know the American people will always vote for a free lunch,

if you package it correctly.
