Republican Lawmaker: A Fetus Is ‘The Largest Organ In A Body’

Alabama State Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin is in favor of proposed harsh abortion laws in Alabama, and explains why.

The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin, R-Pelham, would require physicians at abortion clinics to have admitting privileges at local hospitals; require clinics to follow ambulatory clinic building codes and make it a felony — punishable by up to 10 years in prison — for a nurse, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant to dispense abortion-inducing medications.

McClurkin and other supporters of the bill, known as HB 57, argue that the nature of abortion should require strict regulations, and claim that abortion clinics have a higher rate of regulatory violations than any other providers.

“When a physician removes a child from a woman, that is the largest organ in a body,” McClurkin said in an interview Thursday. “That’s a big thing. That’s a big surgery. You don’t have any other organs in your body that are bigger than that.”

:rofl::rofl::rofl: :eek:

Alabama state Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin (R) is pushing legislation that would impose restrictions on abortion clinics -- a move that she argues is necessary because the procedure is a major surgery that removes the largest "organ" in a woman's body.

“When a physician removes a child from a woman, that is the largest organ in a body,” McClurkin told the Montgomery Advertiser on Thursday. “That’s a big thing. That’s a big surgery. You don’t have any other organs in your body that are bigger than that.”

Feel like you’re gonna be raped? Maybe you won’t

Feel like you’re going to be raped? Well, maybe you’re wrong. So goes the justification for Representative Joe Salazar (D-Thornton) to take a away the right for a woman with a concealed carry permit to defend herself while on a Colorado college campus.

“It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, it’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at,” Salazar remarked in debate late Friday night. “And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop … pop around at somebody.

If opponents of abortion want to define a fetus as a human being, then they cannot then turn around and also claim that it's simply an organ (or a tumor).

Ya know....the Colorado House of Representatives ought to be instructive to Republican's, but it's probably not.

At the end of the last session, the GOP had a 1 vote majority. Today, in the newly elected House, the Democrats have a NINE vote majority. That means the GOP lost 10 seats in a single election!

Maybe the GOP ought to re-think what they're doing before the lose even more seats next time.

Liberals don't care if abortions are performed by someone who was flipping burgers last week. Imagine wanting a surgery to be performed by a licensed physician who has the ability to send a botched job to the hospital. What's up with wanting abortion clinics to be up to the code for medical clinics? Isn't this unfair to all the slums. What's next, demanding that all instruments be sterlized?

Take out the fol de rol, let's move to back alley abortions done with rusty coat hangars, but make them legal this time.

Missouri Republican official: ‘God chose to bless’ women with pregnancies from rape

Republican Senate Nominee Explains That Women Don’t Really Get Pregnant From ‘Legitimate Rape'

The conservative Windbags in the GOP love women so much they fight over the blessings their god gives to women, when women get raped. It's difficult for them in their echo chamber. In order to not step all over each other they'd have to allow more than the right wing noise machine into their lives, and that ain't gonna happen. Because if it did...
