Reid: No one’s talking about reconciliation

Dems need to do what is right and say the hell with political consequences.

Show some balls Dems...tell the Repubs to get with the program or get the hell out of the way.

Use Reconcilliation ...the Republicans would if they were in your position

The Dems need to do the right thing, which would be to kill this Rosemary's baby of an abortion and start fresh.

Ramming it down America's throat just plain wrong.

And the objection most folks have to it is the corruption in the thing. That it won't do what it is purported to do, that it is overpriced when we have lots of more important priorities for our non existent cash..... There are so many good reasons to kill it and I don't see any good reason to pass it.

Serious question. What republican idea's are out there that are not inthe bill already?

Seriously. What?

I agree. This should have been done last summer. The problem with the Dems is they have no balls. They are afraid of what may happen to them, too tied to the polls, to afraid someone may be offended.
The Republicans have more power with 41% than the Dems do with 59%. Republicans don't give a shit what people think. They have an agenda and stick to it

Dems are just pussies

And, therein, is my point. The Democats - for all their public statements - know that the majority of Americans are NOT happy with the current crap. That is the simple truth. "We, the People" do not want their 2000 words, their taxes, their power grab.

We want REFORM.

And if we go down the path the Republicans are proposing, there will be no reform. They know that if they delay healthcare long enough, it will go away. It worked in 1993 and they are doing the same thing today. In 1993 they said "lets get this right" and then stomped it once they had power.
Republicans do not want healtcare reform at all......NONE

Use Reconcilliation while you have the votes. It is not a time to play nice with the Republicans...they will not play nice with you

You know what will happen if they use reconciliation? They will hand the House and the Senate to the GOP, gift wrapped, warm and on a plate. Every single state will run clips of Obama et al stating that reconciliation was against the founding principles of the United States of America and the using said reconciliation to force an unpopular bill down the throats of Americans. That is the brutal reality. You use reconciliation and - for decades - it will be a millstone around the neck of every single Democrat.

Personally, I am horrified that you would condone the use of a process that is - according to Obama - against the principles of this nation.

They want to avoid another vote in the house. With Murtha gone, they now no longer have the means to pass what they passed before. What they have to do is pass the house version in the senate. And my understanding is they can't do that either.

All this for a deeply unpopular bill.

And it won't do Obama much good either.

I think all this talk of reconciliation is just noise before it gets quietly dropped.

The evil republicans killed health care is a better electoral position than passing such a turkey.

Ummm, if the people don't want it, it ain't the right thing to do..........:cuckoo:

:lol::lol: Like Cheney followed that principle.:lol::lol:

Dick Cheney proposed something that bankrupted the country and effected 1/6th of the economy ? .....:cuckoo:

The Iraq war has and will continue to affect the country more than the healthcare bill will, and, ironically, a large part of that is going to be in the area of long term healthcare costs.

Still no liberals wanting to address the hypocrisy of the Democrats statements regarding reconciliation and their current stance? I'm very interested to hear how this is not hypocrisy.... and the 'Mommy, he did it too' defense doesn't fly - the numbers don't add up, two wrongs don't make a right. So, what say you, lefties?

Both parties have had problems over the decade with the more reactionary elements in the GOP and the more radical elements in the Dems wanting to use reconciliation. My belief is that Obama is wrong: reconciliation is not anything the Founders were concerned about. Both Hamilton and Jefferson, as heads of their parties, had no hesitation with a majority of one putting programs through in the decades of the 1790s and the 1800s. However, I like the concept because it forces consensus toward the middle.

You are correct, CG: the Dems would cut their throats now if they used it. BHO threw away their opportunity. Thus, Baruch Menachem has the right of it. The Dems campaign against the GOP for denying some Americans quality health care, and the GOP campaigns against the liberal democrats in 2010, arguing that the health insurance industry should be reformed by free market forces. That will be interesting.

The purpose of yesterdays show and tell was to prove to the American public that there is no middle ground to be had on healthcare. The Republicans are unwilling to negotiate.

It is obvious that reconcilliation is the only way to go.

Time to play hardball

What sealed it was when the president asked them if there was ONE THING in his health care bill they liked and they said no.

He pointed out to them some of the idea's they were asking for that day were already in there, and they still said no.

HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT WORK? Screw them, no more bi partisanship...just do the reconciliation and be done with it. Stop being the nice guy when they said ...if health care fails, Obama fails....or when they say, it will be his water loo.

Screw them. You tried.

51 VOTE!!!

You guys need a reality check. Your Democratic leadership (Obama,Pelosi,Reid) want and need reconciliation and they have the stones to push it through. They don't care about being bi-partisan and never did. Hell they tried to ram the first version through unread back in August. They have the balls they have the political will and they have control of both houses and the White House.

They. Don't. Have. The. Votes.

Forget the hypocracy of using reconciliation. Forget the right or wrong of using the process and forget the right or wrong of the Bill itself. Democrats can't pass it because despite the their numbers, not enough Democrats want to vote for it.

Republican Eric Cantor says Pelosi doesn’t have the votes for health care | The Daily Caller - Breaking News, Opinion, Research, and Entertainment

“House Democrats are farther away from securing the votes to pass a government health care bill today than they have ever been,” Cantor, Virginia Republican, said in a memo to the Republican caucus Wednesday morning.

Cantor says House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “will not be able to muster the votes needed to pass a Senate reconciliation bill in the House.”

But Cantor’s count turns out to be low, according to Stupak, who has been the ringleader for pro-life House Democrats. Stupak said on Fox News Wednesday morning that there are 15 to 20 Democrats who will vote against the president’s proposal, because of abortion language but also because of the tax on high-cost plans

The democrats have "tried" nothing except to pull the wool over the citizens eyes. We will bury you.

I wonder whether Reid actually realizes that people actually listen when he speaks, and now with the inconvenience of you tube, etc. the whole world knows exactly what he said. What a very stupid man he is.

The entire administration doesn't think we hear what we hear from them. But now with high-tech and everyone on U-tube we can just do the re-play to remind everyone of who said what, when.:lol::lol::lol::lol: It's the torpedo into the boat kinda thing.:lol::lol:
