Great line. Fell on deaf ears though I'm afraid. America is defined by people doing stupid stuff. If we quit doing that we'd do nothing at all. We've benefitted from geographic isolation for so long we're out-of-touch with the rest of the world's reality. When you have oceans on either side, and friendly countries to your north and south, you tend not to worry about enemy tank columns rolling over the border and kicking you in the shins. And when losing wars teaches others lessons they sorely needed, because we're over here beyond our enemy's reach, when we lose, we just start another war and hope for improvement.
The US hasn't learned anything from it's multitude of failures. It keeps doing the same stuff that doesn't work, racks up a big body count, then continues on in obstenant defiance doing it all over again somewhere else. We lose wras but where other nations learn from those losses and become better societies not seeking empire and victory through warfare, we don't. We still think we're the 'great generation' that won World War 2. We're not. That generation's gone and no where to be found in modern day USA. That generation gladly sacrificed conveniences for the good of the war effort, rationed, went without, all for the greater good. Can't get people in California to quit wasting water nevermind the entire country doing anything.
We're spoiled, gluttonous, convinced we're superior and take priority and BADLY need a kick to the balls.
