The point is, these individuals were politicians before those appearances and their "celebrity" appearances were tied to their campaigns.

Trump would be a better candidate for democrats to put up. Please. The beauty of being a liberal is not having to take responsibility for your choices. You're not responsible for your retirement or health care. You're not responsible for charity, that's the job of government and the evil rich. You're not responsible for negotiating with your employer or picking the companies you want to deal with, government will require them to give you what you want.

Best of all, liberals are not only not responsible for the consequences of their own choices but they are not even responsible for making the choices they did. It's their employer's fault they didn't save for retirement, it's businesses fault they have to evaluate choices and pick the best product and it's George W. Bush's fault they voted for the war.

There are a few possibilities out there,especially if Donald Trump decides to run. Trump alone will "Trump Obama in 2012". With a VP like Ryan,Thune,Gingrich or Huckabee,that would just put Obama/Biden in severe panic mode come fall of 2012. In your opinion,what ticket would have the Obama Campaign in such dire straights that they will stoop once again to registering animals,cartoon characters,football players and dead people?

Obama would beat Gingrich down even if we were in a deep depression. NG cannot get more than 28% of the vote. Trump could surprise everybody and possible beat the big O.
