Question for rtwng

So do you believe socialism should work with capitalism and meet somewhere in the middle? Take away the gov't, help out those who need it, and long live capitalism? Like capitalists who help others?

Capitalists do help others. Do you know how much money Bill Gates, for example, gives away? If you eliminate welfare programs and reduce corporate taxation, corporations would have more money with which to give to needy people - not to mention it would have more money to create jobs, which reduces the number of needy people.

What about the rest of the world? Does your vision include making life better for all those left behind?

What about laws? Keep the laws? Change the laws to whatever the existing capitalists feel? Since they will be running the world? What if they support legalizing hard drugs? I think socialism is needed. Everyone just has to find ways to satisfy both sides.

Social arrangements made voluntarily by consenting people is great. Want to start a home school co-op, for example? Have fun, I support you all the way. But government-imposed socialism is, IMO, antithetical to American ideals of liberty.

And the lunacy begins. no one said change the laws to whatever the capitalists feel.

We have welfare and medicare and foodstamps and government housing.

It's supposed to be a safety net, not a hammock.

Just a question. You realize that the envious people out there have guns and bombs now, what about those guys?

Any country which goes to capitalism and international trade flourishes. The thing is that power hungry tyrants don't want their people to have wealth and be educated. they want to control everything. just like you libs. there's no real difference. You guys are totalitarians.

Dude, I haven't decided if I'm a righty or a lefty yet. I just think you're never going to see anything work out in your lifetime unless both sides admit that each has a valid point to make. Why don't you write the recipe for world peace, and DKS writes one too, and then put them together so they fit?

I am afraid you'll laugh at that one. I just did. Keep fighting. My other child just woke up.

JI, you think that's whats happening in Iraq, but what matters right now is what they think, ufortunately.

We've already met halfway in america. But nothings enough for libs. So fuck em.
It'll never be enough, because continual whining despite all reality and sense is their route to power.

With capitalism, the haves are in control
With socialism, the ones who decide how the money should be redistibuted are in control.
Either way some elite group will have the power. No way around it. If you want to call that tyranny, so be it.
I prefer capitalism because it encourages creativity and work.
It trusts people to take care of each other--it doesn't force them to give thier assets to whomever the socialist elite decides

Both sides ultimately want the same thing. Just the method of acheiving it gets in the way, and that's where people's weaknesses step in. Working together seems impossible, and I guess that's something that can't be acheived on a message board, where the interest is in winning for your side of choice, not actually getting anywhere.

You all do a really good job of dicussing events.

They don't want the same things. Conservatives want free markets. Libs want planned markets controlled by government. Not the same.

Bigger picture than that. What do people want?

Thanks for the compliment too. As the leader, I will pass it on to the others.:D

food, clothing, shelter, a clear picture of their future, something to believe in, any luxuries they can afford.

... and a true leader doesn't join in the fighting, they try to find a solution.

and how will you lead both sides to victory? from way out there in rightwing? move to the middle.
