Quartet trying to dissuade Palestinians UN bid: Blair

Quickest way to shut up a Pestilinian is to ask them to actually explain who they are. :clap2:

They already know.

You never will.

Why do Palestinians identify by a word invented by Europeans with Hebrew roots? Are you suddently shy?

Did you enter the Federal Witless Protection Program? You post incessantly about so-called Palestiniains--Surely, you must have an inkling why they identify by a name invented by Europeans and with Hebrew roots?

Why?

Palestine is the place of birth on their birth certificates. Do you think they would call themselves French?

The term Palestine is an English word invented by the British around 1920 based on the Romans who changed Judaea, from which "Jew" is derived, to the Latin Palaestina. Palaestina is based on the Philistines who were Greek. Philistines is based on the Hebrew Peleshet.

Jews have identified as Jews for nearly 3000 years.

Why do so-called Palestinians, curiously, identify not by a Palestinian name but by a European name with Latin and, ultimately, Hebrew roots?

Irrelevant, but noted.

Noted that you are unable to explain why so-called Palestinians identify by an English name invented by the British in 1920 based on the Latin Palaestina invented by the Romans and with Hebrew roots.

Doesn't seem to be anything actually Palestinian about Palestinian.

You act like it matters. It must be a slow night in propagandaville.

It matters that you can't even define who so-called Palestinians even are before they took on the name "Palestine" the British invented in 1920 and put on their passports.

Jews have been called Jews for nearly 3000 years. So-called Palestinians have no identity before the British invented the word in 1920?

The maps in the back of my Bible call the area Palestine.

Maybe, actually read your Bible---Palestine and Palestinians never appear. Israel appears over 2000 times

And then it disappeared. Do you have a point?

Palestine and Palestiniains never appeared in the Bible. Back to why so-called Palestinians who are not Jewish residing in the Middle East identify by a European word with Hebrew roots?

The Philistines figure prominently in the Old Testament, above all as Israel's worst enemy. Their presence in southern Canaan in the days of the last judges and the first kings was a serious threat to the southernmost Israelite tribes in particular. After the defeats they suffered against David, the Philistines saw their powerful position weaken considerably, however.

In the past twenty years much has been written about the Philistines, primarily on account of the results of recent excavations in Ashdod, Ekron, and Ashkelon, well-known cities which together with Gath and Gaza constituted the Philistine Pentapolis.1

Explain why so-called Palestinians who live in the Middle East identify by an English word "Palestine" invented by the British in 1920 and with Latin and Hebrew roots?

It doesn't matter so I have never asked.

Why don't you try Google?

Jews identify by a Hebrew-based name for nearly 3000 years. Why, again, do so-called Palestinians, who are Arabs, identify by a word that is English invented by the British and a Latin word invented by the Romans and with Hebrew roots?

Are Palestinians Italian? British? Hebrew? Don't they even know who they are? You certainly don't.

It seems that you are the only one confused by the issue.

Face it. You are not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Eminent Historian and Scholar Bernard Lewis...
The adjective Palestinian is comparatively new. This, I need hardly remind you, is a region of ancient civilization and of deep-rooted and often complex identitites. But, Palestine was not one of them. People might identify themselves for various purposes, by religion, by descent, or by allegiance to a particular state or ruler, or, sometimes, locality. But, when they did it locally it was generally either the city and the immediate district or the larger province, so they would have been Jerusalemites or Jaffaites or Syrians, identifying province of Syria

The constitution or the formation of a political entity called Palestine which eventually gave rise to a nationality called Palestinian were lasting innovations of the British Mandate [1948]

Guy Milliere, Eminent Professor of History and Political Science, Sorbonne, Paris
No one had heard of a Palestinian people before the mid-1960s. They did not exist. Israel under the British Mandate until Israel' s Independence in 1948 was called Palestine. All Jews who were born there until i948 had the word « Palestine » stamped on their passports. The current Palestinians are those Arabs who, for a variety of reasons, decided to leave the land during the 1947 War of Independence, when five countries – Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq – attacked the 600,000 people in the fledgling state of Israel the day after its birth, hoping to kill it in the crib.

The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct Palestinian people to oppose Zionism.

The part of that quote you leave out reads

"For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan."
