same with college. Be self-employed and do your learning online and you can save 4 years of your life, never have to go to school, and save $100,000, and be 100% mentally free and live in the real world. Instead of being institutionalized.

Again, radical thinking gone too far!
Next, you'll be proposing that individual thought replace hive mentality, leading inevitably to personal responsibility and total intellectual liberty!
What would the institutions of religion and party politics do if that were to happen?
You should consider more carefully before speaking this way!

The beauty of being mentally free is you decide your influences and they can't be shoved down your throat. Goes for religion and politics. In fact, I'd say not going to public school and being home schooled would make you a better voter. You'd be a right winger to be more accurate. After all the only people that are on the left either like to control people who can't think for themselves due to being a dependent rather than an independent, or they are controlled by left elitists also known as left leaning politicians. Knowing this - Which would you rather be?

Sorry for the (now corrected) typo; 'this', not 'thins'.

Obviously, my post was using irony to agree with your sentiment.

I cannot agree at all with your follow-up. The reasoning is greatly flawed and lacks logic.
Both left and right extremes have shown in history their readiness to use all means to induce subordination of the individual to the group.

If home teaching were truly to engender personal liberty, that would be liberalizing, but in the true sense of the word and not necessarily in the falsified form it has been twisted. But, there is nothing that says such an education would automatically do such a thing. Nazi parents would not produce free minded offspring.

True, but to leave home after getting your diploma which home schoolers do at a much younger age will enter society earlier and not be going into another institution. Plus this will force them to work younger like age 15 and learn nothing is free and you have to work for it. This defies the very logic of socialism. Its the closest well get other than a balanced budget amendment.

Let's see.... I saved 2 years of college by going into a technical program. I saved thousands of dollars by going to a technical school rather than a "mainstream" college. I've saved innumerable hours of aggravation and stress by working for someone else. That's what makes the most sense to me.

JP Getty never went to school...he just started working at 5...Look at all that time he saved by skipping school, In fact his time is still being saved in a trust fund...

Because of my older sister, I arrived at school already knowing how to read and write. I also already understood that was all one needed in order to learn everything else. So, the first thing I learned in public school was boredom.
If everyone had a mentor as intelligent as my sister, public school would be totally unnecessary. That is not the case, and democracy cannot function without a literate electorate. That's why America collectivized education in the first place. It was a good idea. It simply isn't being done properly.

yeah, it's not like the children are resistive to learning, or sitting still in an environment of boredom..
