Brookline — Brookline legal residents who aren’t U.S. citizens could secure the right to vote in local elections, if Town Meeting members and state lawmakers back a proposal filed by the town’s school committee chairwoman.

Rebecca Stone, a Town Meeting member from Precinct 3 and chairwoman of the School Committee, said the proposal is a “positive way” to push back against anti-immigrant attitudes at the state and national level.

“Rather than simply condemning what we don’t like and saying this is a terrible thing, maybe there is something we can do in Brookline that [shows] we have a different attitude toward immigrants,” said Stone.

I don't not agree with non citizens being allowed to vote.If these people want to vote then they can become citizens first.

typical lefty response; treat the symptom, don't cure the disease,....they are so self involved and broadminded they don't even care that they are in effect working against their own self interests.

See how that one holds up as soon as some citizens file a class action lawsuit...:eusa_whistle:

Someone, I think it was Rush. Or maybe it was me. Anyway, someone said when Obama was elected that by the time the next election rolled around, there would be a big push to include the votes of illegals, because that would be the only way the left would be able to win another election.

There were quite a few of us who saw this coming... I, among others, predicted 'illegal immigration' would become the 'must solve crisis' as soon as they'd rammed healthcare through. The problem, for the Administration, is they didn't get it done as quickly as they wanted to... and now November looms.

Omitted because it wasn't referring to illegal immigrants perhaps?:eusa_whistle:

Omitted because Rebecca Stone is a dumbass that can't comprehend the meaning of "illegal", meaning NOT eligible to vote
:eusa_whistle:

Omitted due to irrelevance? Non-citizen means ineligible to vote. A high school education will take you a long way. A permanent resident who has been here 10 years is no more eligible to vote than an illegal immigrant.:cuckoo:

Exactly my point, in spite of your education insult.
A non-citizen could or could not be here legally.
Does the article differentiate?
Whatever the case, Rebecca Stone is still a dumbass for thinking that a non-citizen should be allowed to vote.

No, my point stands. You say "illegal" means not eligible to vote, and I say non-citizen (legal or not) is ineligible to vote. Your enquiry about illegal or not is quite irrelevant.

I have in bolded text the exact reason why "illegal" was not needed.:eusa_whistle:
