The State of Washington, like most other Democrat-controlled areas, has experienced a massive spike in crime thanks to radical, felon-first policies that have emboldened criminals like never before.
Defund the police, no-cash bail, decriminalize hard drugs, etc… etc… this notoriously progressive state has tried it all.
However, one of the most ridiculous police ‘reform’ policies to be tried anywhere is currently wreaking havoc after it was implemented in the state last year. Passed overwhelmingly by the radicals in the state legislature, House Bill 1054 drastically limits the situations in which the state’s police officers can engage in vehicular pursuits of criminals. Now that the law is in place, they are only allowed to engage a fleeing suspect once permission is given by a commanding officer – a rare occurrence, thanks to the restrictive nature of the law.

If it's a violent felon the chase is on. Trying to pull someone over for a busted tail light and they run? Not worth the hazard to the public.

Im in agreement there, but you understand that now with their new law, any true criminal merely needs to have a stolen car and he gets away with it, right? Bank robbers will have a field day. I promise you will see an uptick in those. Every driveby shooting will now be impossible to stop.

Of course the police are going to chase violent criminals but those are rare next to the chases that started just because someone blew a light or just looked suspicious. With the utter ruin that can result from a police stop for a poor person I'm surprised more people don't run. That scumbag cop knows he's taking food off their table for bullshit tickets. Don't care, pay or go to jail.

You say that, but if this law is in place and a Captain tells his guys to chase and someone gets killed, that Captain is going down. It doesnt seem likely that he is going to hand out permission often. Even the article confirmed that much.

In the real world poor people know the cops are not there to protect them. Anyone who has ever been through the system without enough money hates the system, simple as that.
