President Biden Makes Another Good Move: He Keeps and Expands Trump's Tariffs on Chinese Imports

Here are some good articles in defense of protective tariffs, i.e., protectionism:

Again, Biden deserves credit for extending and expanding Trump's tariffs on Chinese imports.

I don't worry too much about the imports.

It's the exports that are more interesting.

As long as China and the US are making money off of each other, they have a very good incentive not to go to war
That didnt stop the euros from war in 1914 and 1939

America does not have a healthy trade relationship with communist china

For the most part we sell them raw material and they sell us finished products

And we buy much more from the communists than they buy from America

Except, actually, trade was an underlying factor in the wars. For instance, in WWII, Germany and Japan were subjected to sanctions for years before the war broke out.

Part of the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact was a new trade deal between the USSR and Germany, which allowed Germany to concentrate on the west.

That tells me we need to make our industries more efficient to be competitive.

But we get the value of those products.

Retailers make a profit off of them and we get the value of using them.

You mean dormitories for workers who work 12-hour days

You mean ignoring expensive worker safety and environmental rules as china does

Lower wages for American workers too

So you are upset that the Chinese have a work ethic you lack?

Which does not make up for the loss of jobs, with reduced skills for displaced US workers

Then you get another job. Guy, we have a job shortage in this country. I work in a factory, they have a hard time finding workers.

That work ethic ended in America with the Emancipation Proclaimation

We need manufacturing in America

But American workers deserve a living wage

And that means huge tariffs on communist chinese imports
