Record Number of Americans Living in Poverty, Census Reports

More Americans were living in poverty in 2010 than at any time since at least the 1950s, with the overall poverty rate climbing to 15.1 -- a 6 percent jump in just one year -- according to Census figures released Tuesday.

The increase in poverty is clearly the consequence of the December 2007 recession, which occurred before Obama was president. You may blame whomever you want: Bush, Clinton – FDR, for that matter, all better candidates for blame than Obama.

Rather than trying to affix blame, why not put that effort toward finding solutions.

But coddling the rich, using legislation of ensure their pre-eminence and even arguing closing loopholes amounts to a tax increase has successfully concentrated America's wealth among the very few and extremely privileged. If you are seriously trying to claim that an automobile assemblyman at Ford made more than the CEO, that is simply not true. What Reagan did was decrease the redistribution of wealth, exactly the opposite of what you claim, by allowing people to keep more of what they rightfully earned.
