Poor Christie, latest GObP pariah

Remember folks, before christy hugged Obama the left here was calling him a fat bag of nothing..posting pictures of how fat he was, etc etc

BUT he is now their NEW HERO

funny as hell

What MODERATES on these boards appreciate is bi-partisanship.
I get it - you don't understand that concept.s
Those of us who do will just have to soldier on without you I guess.

This also applies to the conflict in the Middle East. Posters here are a-holes if you don't take a side. You gotta be good with bombs dropping on the heads of those THEY don't like so the won't act nasty.

Since when is it wrong to not want bombs dropping on anyone- on neither side?

It's not. Death and destruction is not some day-um vid game to win.

WOW, I didn't hear any of that then. Yeah, not amazingly smart. Just might as well hold up a sign saying "Party before People"

yeah, they were actually saying that he handed the president the election. he didn't. but he did show that the lack of bi-partisanship over the past 4 years wasn't the president's doing. and it was the optics of it that really upset them.

there was one interview, i think it was on fox, but i don't remember, where they asked christie what he thought his appearance with the president did with regard to the election. he said something to the effect of "i have a state with huge problems right now. the last thing i care about are presidential politics".

I saw a clip on some morning show. Christie said something to the effect: "I have a state to take care of. If you think I care about presidential politics right now, you don't know a damn thing about me."

I didn't take it that interviewer was really criticizing him over it - just asking him. But boy Christie sure put him in his place.

that was the quote. thanks!

the interviewer raised the question b/c people in the GOP were complaining about christie embracing the president.

christie did the right thing. so did the president.

extremists on both sides of the aisle hate that.

I appreciate your point of view. And agree that "dropping bombs" should not be undertaken lightly. Unfortunately I also believe that sometimes it is the lesser of two evils.

But I'll agree again about so many posters on here who just get violently vitriolic when you question their position. No only do they demand 100% agreement - they demand it without question. Actually it's kinda funny when you think about it.

Anyway - regards Rosie.

Unfortunately moderates from both parties are finding it a tough climate in Washington these days. Olympia Snowe (R) and Birch Bayh (D) both bailed. They both said they felt way too much pressure to toe the party line.

I'm afraid it's going to take something catastrophic to unload the hyper-partisans. Maybe the cliff is enough, but I doubt it.

That could be a real possibility. I think the Far Right made the big mistake of assuming that the silent majority is also far right. Hopefully they learned that the real silent majority in the U.S. are moderates.

I am hearing some encouraging talk in that direction. Let's see if it sticks.

Any port in a storm, either real or metaphorical. The Conservatives are still picking the thorns from between their toes and wondering how it all went so wrong. Chris Christie acted like every other governor after his or her state had been devastated by natural disaster. But, under the high powered microscope of partisan politics, his actions turned into red meat for the hyper partisans.

What I don't get is the vast and deep ocean of delusion the Conservatives find themselves treading political water in. They called Sandra Fluke a slut, determined that there can be both legitimate and illegitimate rape and speak for God where conception by rape had occurred. Then they wonder about a war on women.

They are facing a budget deficit the way we all are, but they smack their lips like a cartoon hobo looking at a pie cooling on a window sill whenever they consider cutting benefits for seniors and the poor. But, an increase in the top marginal tax rate from 35% to 39% is suddenly an attack on basic freedoms and a wave of impending Socialism!

They promote policies so harsh that immigrants are forced to 'self deport'. And then they wonder why they didn't get a bigger share of the Latino vote.

Delusion will be the undoing of Conservatism. They don't know enough about the concerns and needs of real Americans.

awww, now Christi is a victim of that "extremist hate"

just ask Jilly she will tell you:lol:

when asked about specific issues, most of the country comes down left of center...

but it's definitely around the center.

and we kept telling the nutters they were extremists. kept telling them that normal people aren't interested in humiliating women with forced unnecessary medical procedures in order to keep them from having abortions; kept telling them that they can't play race politics and not have it bite them in the butt... kept telling them that obama-derangement wasn't going to get them anywhere because the majority of americans liked the president even when they disagreed with him.

and their response, the part that doesn't bode well, is that the 'base' thinks that they weren't 'conservative enough'.

i miss the smart republicans...

do you know that years ago, when alphonse d'amato and daniel patrick moynihan were both senators, they used to split judicial appointments. one would go to al. one to pat. one to al. one to pat.

can you imagine that ever happening now?

Stephanie - why don't you try contributing something to the conversation other than just personal insults and emoticons?

when you become the owner of this board I'll then bow down to you..

I'm just dying here about how Christi is now a victim...go do a search on this board and see how the liberals loved Christi then..

or Reagan and Tip O'Neil chatting over a drink or two once a week??????

You're right - the right has lost it's intellectual foundation. Smart republicans like William F. Buckley (snobbish as heck, but a really smart guy) and Irving Kristol and the likes ... whatever happened???
Now we get Charles Krauthammer instead? Really???
That's the REAL problem with conservatism today - they've lost their intellectual footing and are wandering in the wilderness.

Well, I have a great deal more respect for Christie now than I did before Sandy. Really didn't know much about him, other than some 'Conservatives' were swooning over him. But in a bad situation, he demonstrated leadership and grace. The day after the storm, when he had stayed up almost all night and was on the verge of falling over from fatigue, I was definately impressed by him. I need to know more of his political philosophy, but as of now, he has shown leadership that I beleive qualifies him to be considered for a nomination for President.

Yeah we are all extremists for not wanting a baby to be aborted at 9 months.

We are wild and crazy.

You are so sick in the head I don't even know how to deal with you.

I agree. I just wonder though ....

McCain used to be a guy who would tell Democrats or Republicans to step off when he thought they were wrong. He would vote for what he thought the right answer was no matter which side of the aisle it came from. That's what catapulted him into public favor and made him an attractive candidate. But he spent 8 years kissing the far right's butt in order to get the nomination. So he was just a cruel joke compared to the man he used to be.

Romney - same deal. He implemented Obamacare in his state - and then had to spend eight years recanting it and kissing far right butt before they would give HIM the nomination. By then, no one knew what the heck he stood for anymore - if anything.

I'd hate to see them do the same thing to Christie.

Just shows you don't know jack shit. Only two and go figure Annie and Laura. I never figured that.

NO CONSERVATIVES EVER SWOONED ON HIM.
