Another mis-applied liberal metaphor shot all to hell.

How is it misapplied? What I'm struck by is that no one has complained that we have to buy insurance in the first place!

I had dealt with insurance agents and lawyers for 18 months. I have a permanently disfigured hand that wouldn't lift a coffee cup for a year. Drama was necessary to get the ball rolling.
There was no incentive for the lady to try to reach a settlement, because, until that point, there was no direct financial threat to her.
Once she believed she faced loosing her home, she put pressure on her insurance company. I got a check to cover a year's lost wages, the bike and enough to put 30% down on a 5 bedroom home.
