George W. Bush had a Republican congress for three fourths of his two terms. Why the phuck didn't they change something:

Because our oil companies make more by exporting our supply of oil... Furthermore, there's a strategic advantage to NOT opening up our domestic supply and using up everyone else's... Guess who has the upper hand when the Middle East's supply dwindles?

Face it folks, Our domestic oil is going to stay in the ground for a while... it's not a Dem v. GOP thing.... it's a National Defense thing. People can bitch and moan all they want to about the price at the pump, but it's not going anywhere.

Let's get renewables to an affordable level and run with it, keep those programs right here in the USA and let the rest of the world come crawling to us for OUR oil.

Now is NOT the time to be reactionary and give up a huge Ace in the Hole for the future. You want to do something about the COST of running your car? Buy an economical one and get the most mileage you can. Bring real jobs back to this country so more people can AFFORD to pay those higher prices to get from point A to B and heat their homes.

When the Middle East's Oil Supply falls past a certain point...they will no longer have power over much of anything. I know that everyone wants quick easy answers to complex solutions... but that's not how life is.

That's exactly what I said in the Blame Game thread. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way as I do.

I think all politicians and the military decided to use theirs and save ours a long time ago.

So why is anybody paying attention to the constant bickering by the Republicans about what's happened to gas prices since Obama took the helm

Because.... that bickering buys votes.

It's all about cheap(easily extracted oil). They made more money importing cheap foriegn oil, refining it and selling the product domestically.

We've run out of cheap oil. There is more oil here, sure, but it is deeper and cost more to get out of the ground.

...and the enviro-moonbats have a cow at even the slightest suggestion of any drilling anywhere.

I suppose that's why we are routinely pumping imported oil into evacuated salt mines in the mid west and calling it "Strategic Reserves."

If anybody thinks we are stupid enough to use up all our oil, run out and leave the most powerful military force in the history of mankind immobili ed they've got their heads where the sun don't shine. We will be the last country in the world to use up our own resources. If someone can't understand that I feel sorry for them.

On a daily basis we represent less than 5% of the world's population and use 25% of the resources. Wouldn't take us long to use ours up now would it.................
