Police Arrest Multiple Suspects In Connection With West Coast Wildfires

10 Sep 2020 ~~ By Holly Matkin
Law enforcement agencies across the West Coast have arrested multiple alleged arsonists accused of intentionally setting fires while hundreds of blazes wreak havoc in several states.
At least seven people have died, hundreds of homes have been destroyed, and countless communities have been evacuated, CNN reported.
A one-year-old boy was killed in Washington state as he and his parents tried to flee the Cold Springs Fire over Labor Day weekend, KOMO reported.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) in Oregon announced in a Facebook post on Sept. 1 that it had arrested 44-year-old Elias Newton Pendergrass on a first-degree arson charge in connection with the Sweet Creek Fires.
On Tuesday, a suspect ignited two brush fires in Oregon’s Dexter State Recreation Area, KMTR reported.
Witnesses caught the middle-aged suspect in the act, and told police he took off in a green SUV.
The witnesses were able to get the fires out before first responders arrived, KMTR reported.

Police in Spokane, Washington, arrested 36-year-old Christine Comello for allegedly starting at least two fires in the area, KHQ reported.
Witnesses told police they saw Comello start one fire outside a commercial business, and accused her of setting a second fire next to an oil drum beneath a tree, police said.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) District 1 Public Information Officer Trooper Ryan Burke announced in a tweet on Wednesday that officers from multiple jurisdictions apprehended a 36-year-old man for setting a fire in the median of SR-167 in Puyallup.
The Gateway Pundit identified the suspect as Jeffrey Accord, a local Black Lives Matter activist.
In California, highway patrol troopers arrested 37-year-old Anita Esquivel for allegedly starting an unspecified number of fires in the area of Highway 101 near Boronda Road at about 9 a.m. on Monday, KION reported.
Esquivel has been charged with arson.

Comment:
It would be interesting to see if they have any prior arrests involved with Antifa/BLM. I’m assuming their computers and cell phones are also up for grabs.
If they can burn down cities and police stations, what makes anyone think they wouldn’t resort to starting massive forest/wildfires as an effort to occupy law enforcement etc?
But I did see an article today where that this was NOT antifa. Yeah, sure...
Indeed, Governor's Inslee and Brown are claiming the wild fires are caused by Climate change and not arson...
Oddly, more than two months ago, I was wondering when Antifa would begin torching off brush fires...When do they start taking hostages, setting off car bombs and ambushing police using IED's?

If this ends up to be the work of BLM/antifa...the retribution is going to be unimaginable! It will be an extermination!

Tens of thousands have been evacuated from their homes.

No correlation in the report as to the SIZE of the fire.. For one of largest in Cali right now -- the CAUSE was one of those pyrotechnic guns they fill with pink or blue confetti for baby "sex reveal" parties...

Wow...straight to the political conspiracy theory!!!
Would you like to explain the 'conspiracy theory' here???

While I can't speak of the other fires and arrests, though I have read an article about the Spokane fires and the person arrested in connection.....I can definately attest to this Jeff Accord that was arrested while video taping the very fire he started. That video is also posted in Death Angels link. If you take the time to watch it (it is long, around 45minutes IIRC)......but in it, he says he was part of the Ferguson riots. Then one of the cops is heard saying they recognized him from another fire at HWY 512 & I-5 interchange, that was set just a few miles away from this one.

Another fire incident a few days before had shut down Hwy 167 and Hwy 410 (less than 1/2 mile from where Accord was arrested).

Another fire is still burning near a small town called Bonney Lake, but most of it is along a steep hillside, right along Hwy 410. It's about 800 acres and less than 20% contained. The surrounding area is under a level 3 evacuation.

Another fire was burning near a small town called Graham, that was also evacuated. The fire has since been put out and people allowed to return home.......if they have a home to return too.

Then today there was atleast another fire started along Hwy 512 and an off-ramp. But someone seen it happening & called it in. After a short chase, police arrested the culprit.

These are only a few of the 60 fires that have been set or are still burning just in Pierce county in less than a week. There are other fires in other counties across the state. While wildfires are a common summer happening, they usually happen in North Central or Central Washington...namely in the mountain range or the foothills. Fires in the West side/Puget Sound area can happen, but very few & far between. Much more populated with lots of concrete.

And btw, here's a link to more info....... Source: Series of wildfires on the West Coast may be "coordinated and planned" attack - police on alert

Most of the fires up here in WA are just small brush fires that most have been intentionally set. Cali may have the largest by size, but considering the sheer numbers is staggering.

Contrary to rumors that have been circulating, there is currently no evidence to tie the wildfires to either far-right or far-left activists. And while investigations are underway into the causes of a number of the fires, we have been able to confirm that suggestions that Antifa members have been arrested are unfounded.
~[snip]~
Here’s what we do know so far:
A number of wildfires in Washington, Oregon, and California are now being considered arson, and several arsonists are already in jail – while there are more on the run, we’re told.
On Wednesday, September 10, 2020, Troopers in Puyallup, Washington said they arrested a 36-year-old Puyallup man caught setting a fire in the brush. This was along State Route 167 in Puyallup in the median of SR 167 at Meridian.
The fire started to spread, but the Puyallup Police closed the northbound ramp on the highway. He told troopers he was looking for a camera. They still took the suspect to jail.
Another arson suspect was arrested in Spokane after allegedly starting multiple fires.
In Eugene, Oregan, Elias Newton Pendergrass, 44, was arrested on Tuesday. He was suspected of arson in a wildfire that that burned almost 400 acres, and caused evacuations west of Eugene. Pendergrass, a Mapleton resident, is accused of first-degree arson.
In Salinas, California, 37-year-old Anita Esquivel, is in the Monterey County Jail for arson. The California Highway patrol confirms Esquivel was arrested after allegedly starting fires intentionally along Highway 101 near Boronda Road.

“We are reacting to a coordinated series of attempts to start fires anywhere and everywhere in Oregon. Public and Private lands, incorporated and unincorporated areas.
By all indications so far in the preliminary stages of these investigations there is a coordinated effort on the part of these individuals to start fires in areas that are the least protected and most vulnerable then slowing working their way into more populated areas and neighborhoods.
Please take this information as an advisory for you own account and welfare and please act in good faith with due diligence to plan accordingly for your own safety and the well being of your community.”
Law enforcement sources throughout Oregon and California did confirm for us that investigations are underway to see if a number of these fires are tied together.

Comment:
If it's a conspiracy theory LEO's in at least three states are taking it seriously.

Of course they're taking it seriously. Too bad the editor isn't, but she's probably covering her ass from legal actions.

As I'd said previously.....the guy in Puyallup admitted on his own live streamed video that he had been part of the Ferguson riots. And was near another fire....It's not a coincidence that he just likes to be where the action is.

The other guy that was caught lighting up another off ramp and arrested

When Western Washington only sees maybe a handful of fires in a normal year......and THIS year there have been 60 in just Pierce county alone, not counting the number of small fires in King, Snohomish and Thurston counties that I know of, and may be more.......there not all from lit cigarettes, out of control BBQ's or fireworks. Some yes, but very few considering the total.

6 or 7 years ago, we'd had a long, hot, dry summer with temps from the mid 80's to upper 90's for weeks (unusual for here), we did see a spike in local fires.....maybe 25 for the whole Puget Sound area for the whole season. So to ignore the likelihood of these this year not being intentionally set is ridiculous.....and never before have so many 'lone arsonists' been so active at the same time to be believable.

So to say these fires aren't the work of a coordinated group, such as Antifa/BLM is just proving stupidity or total blindness

Yep, there are several instances of where people wanted to do a "gender reveal" party with pyrotechnics, and it went horribly wrong.

But then again, in an age of social media where everyone tries to outdo those who went before them, what do you expect? Everyone tries to do it bigger and badder than those before them, even if it means setting the forests on fire. Hey, here's an idea, instead of trying to be the most viral video on YouTube, you just have a small ceremony and let your friends and family know what it is? Not everyone needs to be included in your lives.
