Government means never having to say you're sorry.

They left the materials in the back seat of their rented Ford Expedition and went to bed. The plutonium and cesium were stolen out of the Marriott parking lot…. Located in a crappy section of town...

The group that lost the nuclear material is the Off-Site Radioactive Source Recovery Program which is based at New Mexico’s Los Alamos National Laboratory — is the team charged with recovering plutonium and enriched uranium that has been loaned out by the military. Let that sink in for a moment.

When I go to hotels I always leave my wallet, cameras, and luggage in the backseat.

Notice they do not mention an amount. It's not like it was a truck load. Dumb nonetheless.

It's still a loss of material, and even if not enough to weaponize (even just to contaminate say a subway station) the people who took it probably have no idea what they have.

If it's just an alpha emitter, no worries. If it's a beta or god forbid gamma emitter.....

Just enough for going to the World Series with and spreading around.

Where does it say that?

You do realize that even Geiger counters have radioactive materials so they can be tested, right?
To ensure they got the right items, the specialists from Idaho brought radiation detectors and small samples of dangerous materials to calibrate them: specifically, a plastic-covered disk of plutonium, a material that can be used to fuel nuclear weapons, and another of cesium, a highly radioactive isotope that could potentially be used in a so-called "dirty" radioactive bomb.

Plutonium went missing in San Antonio, but the government says nothing

Yeah, small amount but enough.

Yeah, small amount but enough.

How do you know what "enough" means since it did not say anything about the amount?

Were these disks the size of barrel lids, LPs or postage stamps?

Just more Trump administration ineptness on display for the World to observe!

enough for a dirty bomb, or contaminate several nuclear power plants via sabotage

Where does it say any of that?

I think this entire article is pure hyperbole.

Put it in the water supply, go to a McD’s and leave it in the kids playground, put it in the men’s room at Yankee stadium.

People will freak out and terrorists win again.

Again, you have no idea how much of the material was stolen, do you?
