(CNN) Methane emissions burped up by cows have been observed from space.

The emissions were detected by environmental data company GHGSat's high-resolution satellites in February, according to a news release from the company. In April the company's analysis confirmed that the emissions came from a cattle feedlot in California's Joaquin Valley.

The satellites recorded five emissions, says GHGSat. If these emissions were sustained for just one year, enough gas would be released "to power 15,402 homes," the company said.

And you obviously failed your sixth grade arithmetic classes. After water vapor, CO2 provides the most greenhouse warming of all the greenhouse gases. Those greenhouse gases raise the Earth's temperature almost 33 Celsius degrees, from 18.8C (our black body temp) to 13.9C (our current average temperature). Human fossil fuel usage has pushed CO2's atmospheric level from 280 ppm to 420 ppm, a 50% increase. That is a 50% increase in the IR absorbed by CO2 in the atmosphere. Keep in mind that even the worst case scenario run till 2100 would produce average global temperatures increased by only about 1.4%. Mainstream science is not predicting that the planet will be set aflame. They are telling us that a 4 Celsius degree increase in global temperatures will raise sea levels by feet, destroy crops and drinking water supplies and bring on large increases in severe weather events. That you think the apparent smallness of the CO2 level in the Earth's atmosphere makes it impossible for it to have the dramatic effects we've been threatened with is, I'm sorry to say, the product solely of your flawed comprehension of the scale of the problem and its causes.

Methane has a short half-life in the atmosphere ... roughly 15 years is all ... she oxidizes into carbon dioxide releasing water vapor ... she has been contribution to global warming, but before these folks' research the amount was below the ability for us to measure ... and this contribution to the warming requires the continual release of methane to replace what's breaking down ... see "Ruminant" on Wikipedia ... deer also contribute to this methane release so we need to get the gun-owners busy hunting them down and killing them ... the deer, not the Alarmists ...

In other words ... cut your meat consumption by 90% ... nothing new to that requirement ...

Methane is 80x as powerful as CO2 and it is growing, not diminishing as we easily replace it with not only with livestock, methane leaks, and Garbage piles, but the Current Temperature alone releases it from the Ocean Floor and Melting Tundra and that is increasing as it warms.
That is... a snowball effect.
So while CO2 is up app 50% in the last 150 years Methane is up app 2.5x.

So 15 years (then 7.5 more years at half strength/volume, etc) is plenty long enough to create yet more 80x methane in the Atmo and yet more Snowball warming.
