While I can agree with you that our wars and imperialism throughout the world comes with a big price tag, it is far from the only money-draining program we need to address. These worthless pieces of shit on welfare that do nothing but suck on the governments nipple (which actually comes from us who do work hard for a living) need to be kicked out of the program. I know there are people out there who seriously need help, and God bless them so that they might get the help they actually need. But for those pieces of shit who rape and abuse the system (i.e. the ones using their EBT cards at strip clubs, liquor stores, etc) there time needs to come to an end, like yesterday!! We could save millions, if not billions a year if we actually made citizens who were capable of working, WORK! But the Liberals have turned this country into one of the biggest welfare states the world has ever seen. It is absolutely pathetic. I hope they start doing evaluations tomorrow for social programs such as welfare, food stamps, government housing assistance, etc. If a person can even answer a phone, they would be cut from the program, and be required to work. There should be buses to pick these people up if they cannot make it to work. I don't give a shit of any excuse, if you have a voice, legs, and/or arms, you can do something productive for this country. These fucking handouts need to stop!

This has to do with people claiming to be poor enough to need government assistance, for whatever reason, and then using that money at strip clubs, or liquor stores, etc.. I am sorry but if you are so poor that you need help from the government (I am not saying that in itself is a bad thing) then you definitely do not need to be going out to strips clubs and getting drunk on taxpayers money. I can't understand how some states allow EBT and cash benefits.
People avail themselves of welfare for many reasons, but when they have displayed poor judgement in money management skills, you don't give them access to cash to support wants and not needs.
It's like giving a kid money for bread and peanutbutter and the child walking out with a container of ice cream.

On another note, while assisting a customer Saturday, his EBT card wouldn't process.
The amount on the card was less than the purchase.
The poor guy had to bring his order under $200.
Let me say, my heart really bled for him (not) when he had to deduct a couple packages of steak from his order which consisted of 6 12packs of soda, numerous steaks, chicken kabobs and crab legs.
I mean, REALLY?? If the EBT is supposed to help people from near starvation, why are we funding a weekend barbeque.
And don't tell me its an isolated incident. I work in an inner ring suburban supermarket and I witness this often through the course of a day.
They don't care about discount cards, they don't use coupons, because all the food in their basket was FREE!

The money on Florida Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards is meant to help needy families cover rent and other basic living expenses.
But in a review of 30 months of EBT card withdrawals, which first aired in 2011, 9 Investigates uncovered almost 700 withdrawals at stores with either “beer” or “liquor” in the name.
There were 200 at stories with “tobacco” or “smoke” in the name. And 9 Investigates even found $60,000 withdrawn inside the Miccosukee Indian Casino near Miami.
Now, Orlando-area State Sen. Andy Gardiner has introduced a new ban that would prohibit EBT cards from being used in liquor stores, strip clubs, dog racing tracks, mega casinos, strip mall casinos and other gaming establishments.
First-time violators would be kicked out of the EBT card program for six months. With three violations, recipients would be barred permanently from the program.

I understand your point in them trying to use strip clubs, liquor stores, etc. to get people all fired up about this, but for me at least, that is hardly the case. I have been tired of the mismanagement of social programs for a while now, and hearing about this has nothing to do with my anger towards the government for their lack of competence. The argument could have listed churches, and other non-lewd places, and I still would be angry. If they said churches, I would take the attitude, "feed yourself and get yourself on your feet first, before you give money to God. I am sure that he doesn't really need the money." It would not be hard to restructure the various social programs, to weed out the people who do not have a legitimate need/reason to be receiving the aid. And for the ones who do need the aid, then they have 2 years to find a job. The last year they are receiving aid from the feds, one of the contingencies of receiving said aid would be working with a hiring agency. There are plenty of jobs out there, however, Americans have come to adopt this attitude that certain work is "beneath" them, which in some cases it is, but suck it up, and do the damn job. While you are engaged in a job that is "beneath" you, search for one that is more suitable to your level. That's my opinion at least.

The social programs need reform. The items of food need to exclude candy, steak, soda pop, chip, and so forth along with the tobacco and booze: those are not a right.

The physically fit should be mandated to give ten hours a week to the city or the county in return for assistance. Those who aren't but can assist should be found adaptive work.

Those who can't get off drugs should be forced to give up parental rights.

And, phased in, no new benefits for children out of wedlock.
