People are boycotting Starbucks after CEO announces plan to hire thousands of refugees

Seems the backlash is real if companies don't have an American first attitude. We have a similar program in Canada where donut shops and fast food places fly in foreign workers to take the important jobs that young Canadians would have to get work experience and such. It defies logic to me.

"We are living in an unprecedented time, one in which we are witness to the conscience of our country, and the promise of the American Dream, being called into question," CEO Howard Schultz wrote in a letter to Starbucks employees about the plan.

While many customers were immediately supportive of Starbucks' actions on social media, others threatened to boycott after the letter's release.

I plan on going to Starbucks. They're doing the right thing. They're also planning to provide insurance for those who might lose insurance due to repealing ACA. Sounds like a decent company.
I don't believe ACA is going away.

enjoy

I prefer Folgers.

If I'm traveling, I'd get coffee at any gas station or truck stop before I'd go to Starbucks
I prefer the exotic blends of ground coffee you can get at the grocery stores.

I make this with a small old fashioned percolating pot.

It always tastes really good that way.

Starbucks is just a matter of occasional convenience for me. Not a daily affair.

Glad to hear it and their coffee tastes like shit.
It actually tastes really, really good.

Especially the raspberry mocha.
Why not buy a milkshake, and put it in the microwave?
By the time my coffee is made, it has coffee (of course) in it, and milk, and some kind of sweetener.

The best way to make a milk shake is start with cold milk and frozen fruit, then blend this together in an electric blender. But that is for hot summer daze.

Currently we are in the dead of winter here in the Northern Hemisphere -- coffee time.

I know -- you were just trying to be a smart azz.

But good coffee blended with lots of exotics like cinnamon or hazelnut or mocha is one of those rare treats of life that you will not get in the afterlife. So get it now.

Dumb asses. The boycott has backfired and Starbucks has seen a big increase in business. Folks who never went there before are checking them out and lending support by buying their products. Getting a boycott from trumpbots is good for business.

Tried it once...

Thought I was drinking boiled perfume

Starbucks is terrible anyhow, it's nasty tasting coffee.
It's like Scotch, you have to "aquire a taste" for it.

Why are you supporting an obviously discriminatory employment policy? Employment policies are legally required to be "blind". His obviously aren't - he admitted to racial/religious targeting. Would you support him if he had said he would hire no blacks? He's setting quotas in both cases.

Please link to sales figures or quit making shit up you worthless spamming troll.

Thankfully here in Washington state, Starbucks homebase, we have small Mom & Pop coffee shops on nearly every street corner and they get our business. And I agree, Starbucks coffee is nasty & always has been

Your a mental cripple who can't figure out how to google "starbucks boycott backfires". If you had a minimal amount of know how you could actually make an intelligent post without the reliance on a lame insult.

Because he is not saying he won't hire xyz.

Why do people HATE the idea of hiring refugees?

If Starbucks said they were going to hire 1,000 unemployed rust belt white guys...would you be outraged? It's their business if they want to support refugees and given that refugees are specifically under attack by folks just for being refugees, or more specifically Muslim refugees - I applaud Starbucks. My mother lives in an area with a lot of Burmese refugee resettlement and the entire community helps out with employment and support. This is a bad thing?

Someday these liberal CEOs will realize they don't need to be sticking their fucking noses into social events. It'll sting them in the ass.

Felching coffee is not sanitary.

Glad to hear it and their coffee tastes like shit.

what is sad is that Starbucks does some great things for the community. I thought their degree program for employees was a magnificent idea. Provides loyalty AND better employees. They also do work for U.S military.

This statement by him made no sense and was not a wise business decision, nor was it particularly sensitive at a time in which millions of Americans are hurting, can't find work, sustaining themselves on food stamps etc.
I don't remember if Starbucks is currently pro-gun or anti-gun.

Although I do believe the open-carry gun fans are all wacko's, it seems that Starbucks keeps flip flopping on this issue.

I carry my 45ACP concealed not open carry everywhere I go. Starbucks does not need to know.
I don't think people who want to open carry are wackos in any sense of the word. Just because you won't do something someone else will, does not make them crazy.

Ok, whatever.

I don't think it's a bad thing. It's no different then a company deciding it's going to hire local talent. Or, for that matter - companies choosing to hire US labor over foreign labor.

Your kind doesn't think anything that hurts America is bad.
