President Donald Trump (C) gathers with Congressional Republicans in the Rose Garden of the White House after the House of Representatives approved the American Healthcare Act, to repeal major parts of Obamacare and replace it with the Republican healthcare plan, in Washington, U.S., May 4, 2017.http://fm.cnbc.com/applications/cnb...4/104449567-RTS157Q9.530x298.jpg?v=1493929260
Had that asshole understood a president’s authority when he was campaigning he would have known that presidents are salesmen for Congress. In short: Trump had no business making promising he could not keep. Selling Obamacare-lite for Paul Ryan & Company was the rigid rod of reality being inserted you know where.

Ryan and those Republicans who elected him to Speaker could have repealed the ACA within days of Trump taking office. Rather than full repeal:

Bet your melons on this one: President Trump does not have the courage to veto Obamacare when he gets the final bill.
Finally, President Trump should have kept his mouth shut after telling Congress he would veto everything except full repeal. Had he done that Paul Ryan would have been up the creek without the president’s paddle.
The vast majority of Americans hated Obama because they knew he would veto repeal. Those same Americans will love Trump if he vetoes every attempt by Congress to keep Obamacare alive.
