So the people that controlled the land for 600 never identified a separate identity having to do with Palestinians nor did they call them Palestinians. In other words Palestinians are no different than the other Arabs of the region ie the Egyptians, Jordanians, or Saudis.

But the Turks did identify the Jews by name, as the people who belong in Israel and in fact invited Jews from Spain and Portugal to come back to what the Turks considered the ancient homeland of the Jews. So the Jews have been there at least for the last 700 years of the Ottoman Empire.
