Consider another more likely reason for Trump's behaviour. It's a test of government's resolve to maintain law and order in the face of a mini-revolution if Trump is arrested.

I think American politics has progressed to a point at which the system is being tested.

We see it in areas of the nation at times. Deplorables do not have cell group shills organizing and causing riots like we saw in cities. At least as far as we know.
