I picked-up this 1965-ish H&R 755 "Safari" today for $100.00.....4.5#, 18" barrel, Mannlicher style stock. A little 1/2" scope was on it, still nice and clear.
What makes it "odd" is the firing mechanism.
At first blush it reminds you of a semi-auto but it's a single shot.....After you load you push the bolt forward and fire, the bolt then goes back under recoil ejecting the empty and recocking itself.....The bolt is stopped by a plug with a oil soaked leather buffer on the end. Reload, push the bolt forward, rinse and repeat.
I tried it with both shorts and long rifle and it worked fine.
The protective ears on the front sight had been removed but I ordered a replacement so I'll end up with $113.00 in it.
