Obama Starts Big Push For Health Care Overhaul : NPR

Yesterday Obama got the good old boys together to discuss fixing healthcare. Here is what I got out of the story. Corporations WANT TO PAY for healthcare. They asked a guy from General Mills and he said, "healthcare is a valuable tool we use to attract quality employees."

So corporations, stop crying about not being competitive with the rest of the world because of labor costs and wages.

The other concern comes from people who feel that they have good insurance now and they worry that any reform will worsen what they have. Obama assured that would not happen. They'll get the same quality, only pay a lot less.

"the greatest threat to the foundation of the U.S. economy. He also issued a warning: "Those who seek to block any reform at any cost will not prevail this time around."

The U.S. system is the world's costliest and leaves an estimated 48 million people uninsured.

The costliest because of government intervention to begin with and the vast majority of those 40 plus million could get health insurance today at an affordable price if not for government intervention as well as the rest of us paying less and the majority of those uninsured could still get insurance today if they wanted to but they choose instead to play the odds or spend their money on other things like Escalades, Lucky Strikes,Lotto Tickets and Budweiser.

tell me when has the government getting involved in anything given you the same or better than what you have now for less money?

Hint......NEVER

Solving the HC mess WILL make the USA a more efficient nation overall.

Its pretty tough for American businesses to compete against foreign companies that don't have the burden of HC integrated right into their product costs.

All that being said, I have no viable solution to this mess that anyone (not even me) finds acceptable.

He also said the stimulus had 'no earmarks.'

Hell ... if the government stopped intervening then you wouldn't NEED insurance ... you could afford most of it out of pocket on your own, then pay only for what you need and not what others do as well.

Do you even know why healthcare costs so much. When someone who is uninsured comes in the emergency room they get service they get charged and in most cases they dont have the means to pay it back. Now the hospital has to takes the loss then it raises the payments that health insurance companies pay them. Thus then you and your employer have to pay more to the health insurance companies to cover their costs and insure a profit. So by lowering or eliminating the loss to the hospital this should cut costs to all down the pipeline.

Concussion,

Health Care costs would go down if the 2nd Amendment was repealed.

There is something very very work when the leading cause of BK in America is because of medical bills! See the article below the vast majority of people declaring BK because of medical bills have insurance and are part of the middle class. Go figure!

Look UHC is pro-business, which is a GODD THING!

Corporations and small business have significant costs associated with providing healthcare for their employees. It gives companies in countries like Canada and Europe a significant advantage over business in American! Not to mention we have a higher corporate tax than all these countries also!

Medical Bills Leading Cause of Bankruptcy, Harvard Study Finds
Illness and medical bills caused half of the 1,458,000 personal bankruptcies in 2001, according to a study published by the journal Health Affairs.

The study estimates that medical bankruptcies affect about 2 million Americans annually -- counting debtors and their dependents, including about 700,000 children.

Surprisingly, most of those bankrupted by illness had health insurance. More than three-quarters were insured at the start of the bankrupting illness. However, 38 percent had lost coverage at least temporarily by the time they filed for bankruptcy.

Most of the medical bankruptcy filers were middle class; 56 percent owned a home and the same number had attended college. In many cases, illness forced breadwinners to take time off from work -- losing income and job-based health insurance precisely when families needed it most.

Families in bankruptcy suffered many privations -- 30 percent had a utility cut off and 61 percent went without needed medical care

Roads, highway, police, military to name a few!
Did you see 60 minutes last night, apparantly the FDIC is running the banks that become insolvent better than the banks ran themselves. Not to mention the FDIC has done a better job selling and marketing these banks than the private owned banks!
