Obama's political suicide: Raising the debt ceiling three times in one year

This is how it works. Republicans pass a resolution in the house raising the debt ceiling and then vote against it. Obama "vetoes" the vote because Republicans don't have a two thirds majority. Republicans do this three times over the next year.

At the end of the year, Republicans can say, "See how reckless Obama spends? He raised the debt ceiling THREE TIMES and we voted against it every time.

Remember when Republicans said they didn't want to create "uncertainty" in the market? Could they think of a way that could create more uncertainty than this? I don't see how. Maybe flipping a coin?

This, AFTER Obama put Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid on the table along with 4 trillion in cuts.

Republicans have said they want him to FAIL. They weren't joking. And there are those who said this has nothing to do with race. Sure it doesn't.

He did a few good things, big things. He passed Romney care, which could have been better if the filibuster Republicans weren't protecting HC companies every step of the way. He got Bin Laden after Republicans let him go (if they hadn't, America never would have invaded Iraq). We've had positive job growth for 15 months in a row after Republicans left him with an economy losing 800,000 jobs a month. The DOW is up 6,000 points.

The trillions in Bush tax cuts did nothing. The Bush extensions did nothing. Subsidies for oil companies did nothing. The 12 largest corporations paying no tax and getting billions from the government did nothing.

Worse, this is the second time Obama has been blackmailed. Republicans saying they would cut off unemployment for millions of Americans unless the Bush tax cuts were extended for the richest Americans was the first time.

After what Bush and both houses controlled by Republicans did, can you imagine what will happen the next time they have both houses and the presidency? Could they really do worse than before? You betcha!

So have at it Right winger Teabirthers. Defend away. Let's see you make the is fault of the "black" man in the "WHITE" House. He has even said giving up his presidency is something he would gladly do for the good of the country. Republicans would destroy the world economy to "get" him. Do right wingers really think their leaders are working for the "good of the country"? Seriously? I wish they would explain how.

McConnell is a piece of work. I don't know anyone of any party can support this crap. It's blatantly political. And this is coming at a time when these guys were ringing all sorts of alarms about spending.

And Boehner the lily livered spineless wussy that he is..said the Deficit is all Obama's fault.

Yet, it very well might work. Here comes "President Bachmann". Could you imagine?

I don't think it will.

President Obama's called the Republican's bluff. The spending thing is a smoke screen for their bottom lines.

-Retaining the Bush Tax cuts.
-Getting rid of Social Security.
-Getting rid of Medicaid and Medicare.

That's the real agenda.

Americans don't really pay too much attention. Parents raising three children will hear that Obama raised the debt ceiling three times and that's all they'll know. Still, many people believe Saddam was working with Bin Laden. Just a few days ago, I heard a guy on the train talking about Obama taking a trip that cost 200 million dollars a day.

People think the lies Republicans put out there don't stick. Well, they do. Because Democrats make the mistake of thinking people are too smart to believe them.

That's a little scary. But I don't think President Obama's going to get the Angry White Guy vote anyway.

The Republicans have alienated seniors, college students, the entire lower and middle classes, and all non-whites.

That's going to be a wee-bit difficult to overcome.

Obama's Failed Leader and Ideologue who threatened the health and safety of American seniors; it won't be forgotten

As the parrot squawks............................Relax frankie, we already said he'll not get your angry white guy vote. Your persona is safe.

McConnell has made it clear......the number one goal is to make Obama a one term President, country be damned.

Did people think he was kidding?

Nope.

And that sort of petulant attitude is going to come back in spades..2012.

The Republicans have handed a major gift to Democrats..and if they don't fuck it up they are going to win both houses of congress and the white house.

So is the One all done pouting yet?

Must be horrible upsetting to Dear leader that he actually has to listen to others and that his agenda is no longer being rubber stamped.

you are a disgrace to those that are true victims of racism. You toss it around where it is not applcable for your own agenda......minimizing the importance of it.

It is pathetic.

I'm not sure how your scenario actually happens. If the repubs passed a bill in the house, that means they've already voted on it. so they raise the debt ceiling, which the senate would agree to since McConnell doesn't control the senate. there wouldn't be any need for a veto. A veto would only come in if congress raised the debt ceiling and the president chose to veto (which wouldn't happen).

They just want to be able to say that the president did it on his own... but it was a last ditch, throwing in the towel move because they're so afraid of being primaried by tea party nutcases that they won't do what needs to be done. But wall their wall street money has been calling them and told them to stop screwing around.

At least that's how i'm seeing it.

Likewise, I see people like you and others on here saying that Bush cherry picked intel (no proof, no hearings, no followup...but regurgitasted as truth non the less).
I see people refer to Bachmann as a racist...no proof, no examples, just regurgitated as true.

But only republicans do it.

Sure.

actually, if you ever actually read Hans Blix's Reports to the UN, you'd know that there's no question he cherry picked intel. were there other thngs that were exaggerations? probably... just ask the obamaisakenyanmuslimsocialist nutters what lies are.

just saying.

thats the problem
You tend to believe opinion as fact.

Fact....over 4000 Americans died in the Iraq war.
If Bush truly lied to get congress approval to go to war, there would have been hearings.
Likewise, parents and loved ones of the fallen heros would have been at the steps of the Capitol Building.
Likewise, there would have been investigations by non partisan entities.
Likewise, there would have been members of congress with blood on their hands due to a lie that would have said more than "he lied to me that is why I voted yes for the war"

But...there werent any of the above. Roger Clemens is a priority, but the President lying so 4000 Americans can die is not.

Such logic means nothing to you.

You are a typical tool of those that feed rhetoric to protect their careers.

Me? I apply logic.

It looks like the bloom is off the rose for Rdean. Who would have thunk that such a paragon of brilliance of brilliance as the Obama of two years ago would fall for such rope a dope?

But you do realize, that if the Republicans get their way this time on the debt ceiling, there will be no need to raise it?

I personally would be ashamed to vote for a president who did something as totally brain dead as this.... IE get snookered this badly this often.

And if he is this bad in domestic politics, imagine the damage his stupid would be in international affairs.

It is a constant fantasy on the right that lefties are beginning to abandon the ONE. But this post here demonstrates that maybe a few of them are tightening their life jackets and heading for the boats.
