President-elect Barack Obama has offered the job of surgeon general to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the neurosurgeon and correspondent for CNN and CBS, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation.

Gupta has told administration officials that he wants the job, and the final vetting process is under way. He has asked for a few days to figure out the financial and logistical details of moving his family from Atlanta to Washington but is expected to accept the offer.

Way to go obamalama,, piss old Michael Moore off bigtime!

Actually, as someone who watches CNN, and has actually watched Dr. Gupta, I think he's an outstanding choice.

Journalistic credentials, practicing brain surgeon, decent man.......he could have picked worse.

Like.....picking Gates for SECDEF?

You mean he actually picked someone who is not only qualified, but also not a throwback from the Clinton Adminstration?

At least he didn't pick Berney Kerick, Brownie, Chertoff or others.

He could pick Rush Limbaugh and some clowns would say Rush was too much of a leftie.

Love it how the Obama fans find the littleist things to bitch about.

Well, he might work as a Journalist, but he's a doctor. Isn't that what the surgeon general's supposed to be? A doctor?

I've watched him a bunch of times on TV. Kinda like his segments. *Shrugs* How off can you be to pick a surgeon general anyway?

This is a very good pick. Dr Gupta is a very qualified doctor, he knows what he is talking about.

I thought Gupta was a respected neurosurgeon, and Professor of medicine at Emory University.

Was I wrong about that?

He's also associate chief of neurosurgery at Grady Hospital in Atlanta...

she's a moron...

An assistant professor of neurosurgery at Emory University School of Medicine and associate chief of the neurosurgery service at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, he is also a frequent guest on the news show Anderson Cooper 360°. "Charity Hospital" won a 2006 Emmy Award for Outstanding Feature Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast. From 1997 to 1998, he served as one of fifteen White House Fellows, primarily as an advisor to Hillary Clinton.

I hope Sanjay gets the job. He's pretty smart, and always has interesting medical stuff to share with the public on CNN.

I like Sanjay Gupta...why the hell would he want to be used by the fraud that is Obama....

I have a feeling he will learn the hard way...much like Hillary will..
