Following in the footsteps of others in the right-wing media, Fox News host Sean Hannity selectively edited a video of outgoing Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta to portray President Obama as "virtually absent" during the September 2012 attack on a diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya. In fact, Panetta testified that White House officials were kept informed of events throughout the incident.

On the February 7 edition of his Fox News program, Hannity said "a major bombshell was revealed" during Panetta's testimony during a congressional briefing that Obama "was virtually absent" during the Benghazi attack. Hannity then played segments of Panetta's testimony.

But Hannity did not air the section of Panetta's testimony in which he pointed out that information about the attack "went to the White House" and that Obama stayed in contact with military officials and was "well-informed" during the attack. Hannity also failed to air a clip of Gen. Martin Dempsey stating that White House staff "was engaged with the national military command center pretty constantly through the period, which is the way it would normally work."

Hannity joins numerous other right-wing outlets in selectively editing the testimony of Panetta and Dempsey.

Yeah, right. Obama was AWOL, as always. Probably worrying about his next fundraiser with Jay-Z and Fifty Cent.

Yes I did, and he clearly says Obama was not in contact the whole time, and he was not able to reach him for 3 hours. Clearly you didn't.

Posting a Media Matters story to Debunk Hannity is like Trying to decide who is lying in an argument between 2 Crack Whores.

I figured the administration had to be on top of things. Otherwise, how could they have known to order people to stand down when they wanted to help the ambassador and the others? And who gave the order to stand down? Who gave the order to arrest the general who was going to help anyway? Someone wanted our people to stay out of the way as the attackers did their thing. I can't imagine anyone making such an incredibly brash decision without approval from the top, unless it was discussed beforehand, which would mean they knew it was coming. The General's story about this whole thing being staged becomes more believable every day.

What does playing the unedited version of a tape that was edited by the rightwing propaganda machine have to do with bias?

Explain that to us.

What's the bias in an unedited version of the testimony?

Wasn't it just a week or so ago that you 'nuts were posting 'unedited' versions of that heckling incident during a hearing,

and insisting that the unedited version told the true story??

Wasn't Hannity using the unedited tape of that incident?

lol. You people's stupidity is getting more tedious by the day.

SNIP:
Panetta: Obama never called back to check on Benghazi
posted at 8:01 am on February 8, 2013 by Ed Morrissey

We didn’t get to this yesterday, but it’s definitely worth watching — especially for the skill shown by Lindsey Graham in his examination of Leon Panetta and General Martin Dempsey. The headline takeaway will be what is remembered most: the revelation that Barack Obama never bothered to keep in touch with his chair of the Joint Chiefs and Secretary of Defense after being informed that an American consulate was under attack from terrorists.

But if that’s all you hear from this, you’re missing the big picture. Graham managed to elicit a number of damaging statements from the two.
Not one aircraft had been deployed during the attack; not one boot left the ground outside of Libya.
As far as the 281 concurrent threat reports that Panetta and Dempsey claimed kept them from considering Benghazi a special threat, Graham asks how many of those cables came from US Ambassadors stating specifically (as Stevens’ did) that an American installation was incapable of defending itself against a sustained attack and that government buildings nearby were flying al-Qaeda flags — “because I want to know about them, if they do,” Graham adds.
Dempsey tries to push that off to State, at which time Graham informs Dempsey that Hillary Clinton claimed never to have seen that cable, even though Dempsey clearly had, which he admits is “surprising.”

Graham then circles back to the lack of action from the White House once the attack was under way:
