In April 2009, the Obama administration granted BP, a big supporter of Obama, a waiver of environmental regulations. But after the oil spill, it blocked Louisiana from protecting its coastline against the oil spill by delaying rather than expediting regulatory approval of essential protective measures. It has also chosen not to use what has been described as "the most effective method" of fighting the spill, a method successfully used in other oil spills. Democratic strategist James Carville called Obama’s handling of the oil spill "lackadaisical" and "unbelievable" in its "stupidity."

Last week, in one of his final moves out of the Oval Office, Obama executively designated more than 1.5 million acres of land as national monuments, preserving their untouched façade while closing them to human expansion, development, energy use, ranching or state or local jurisdiction.

In a move ignored by the liberal media last week, Obama unilaterally seized more than 1.3 million acres from Utah to establish the Bears Ears Monument, preserving it at the behest of conservationist groups and Native American tribes who claimed the land was sacred. Utah’s state legislature, however, opposed the unilateral land grab across party lines, with many speculating that Obama’s move is the latest in an attempt to limit efforts from incoming President Donald Trump to expand domestic

If these lands were already public lands owned by the taxpayers, how were they seized from anyone? Making them National Monuments just changed their status and rezoned them into more protected status for the taxpayers.
Does anyone have a link or evidence that even one acre of the land being discussed ever was privately owned or "seized" from anyone or is this just another misinformation or "fake" news story?

Why does a centralized capitol at some far off place get to decide for the citizens in a different place how they should manage their lives?
