Obama on Trumps Huge Economy Gains: I Built That

He is jealous. Trump did in two years what he couldn’t in 8

What's that? I just don't see that much of a difference between this year and last. The deficit is terrible, my house in the right place gained some value, my house in the wrong place....well, it lost me less if you calculate the mortgage out.

Well, he's right. Trump hasn't messed it up though much to his credit. Trump also ignored those who told Obama not to talk with North Korea, much to Trump's credit.

Now Donald did import some old foreign parents of a trophy wife. I guess taxing their estate will offset their medical care cost?
So Obama can tell every business leader they didn’t build their business, but Obama built the US economy.

Hypocriticus Maximus.

That's like saying one quarterback got you from the your 20 to the other team's 10 yard line. Then a 2nd quarterback takes you the last 10 yards and takes credit for the entire 80 yards. That's chutzpah.

Actually, it’s more like the quarterback who does that piss poor job during 3 quarters, and then taking credit for the win by the new quarterback in the fourth.

Let’s say Obama is responsible for it. The fact that it’s strong and improving negates the left’s narrative that Trump wants to ruin the country. I know most aren’t smart enough to understand this...

If a predecessor takes credit (either real or imagined) for any positivity under their successor, that means it’s worth taking credit for. Despite this the Trump haters are more crazed than they’ve ever been thinking he’s the devil incarnate while Obama attempts to take credit for a portion of the country’s success.

Shitstain obama is irrelevant. He can't live with that. Before Trump improved the economy he had to deconstruct the framework of shitstain regulations.

I really don't care what obammy and his cult think. I'm loving this economy, so the only option the leftists have is to destroy it. It's what they're attempting to do. They've even hired 14 thousand Hondurans to help with that. Yep, they hired an army of illegals to invade our country. Now let that set in a little.

Let's compare the two. Obama, always a politician and never a political leader, inherited a financial crisis and turned it into a terrible recession by failing to promptly address the contraction of credit caused by the financial crisis. About ten years earlier, Sweden had suffered a similar financial crisis caused by a real estate bubble that burst, and the Swedish government promptly seized the troubled banks and pumped enough money into the economy to prevent a contraction of credit, thus preventing a recession and netting tidy profits for Swedish taxpayers when the government sold these banks back to private investors once the crisis had passed. Many prominent economists, mostly from the left, urged Obama to do the same thing, but Obama, always a politician and never a political leader, was afraid of being tagged too far left, and allowed the country to fall into the Great Recession rather than suffer any political risks.

Almost every month Obama was in office, Obama's Labor Department reported that the economy failed to create enough jobs for all the new people entering the workforce and that the unemployment numbers were falling, not because people were finding work, but because so many Americans had lost all hope of finding a job and had dropped out the workforce. Almost every month since Trump became president, the Labor Department has reported the number of new jobs created exceeded the number of new people entering the workforce and unemployment has fallen, not because of people leaving the workforce in despair, as they did during the Obama presidency, but because there were so many new jobs for those who wanted to work.

Illegal immigration across our southern border has dropped dramatically since Trump was elected, partly because of his tough talk about illegals and partly because he reversed Obama's policy of protecting Illegals for US law once they made it across the border. Obama sent a clear message to the 600,000,000 people who live south of our border that if they managed to sneak into the US, he would do all he could to protect them and allow them to stay, but President Trump has reversed Obama's policy of protecting illegals from the law and has sent a clear message that if they enter illegally, he will hunt them down and throw them out.

It is too early in Trump's presidency to compare his record to Obama's disastrous record on foreign policy.

Man, unemployment seems like the trend has been down for a long time. You wanted big government to straight up seize the banks. Bold, wow. I would have probably bailed out GM but let every bank fail. I do applaud your boldness but there may have been an anti socialist revolution here.

Illegal immigration, I would stop but I think I said earlier I favor more LEGAL immigration. I think we have a depopulation problem.

Foreign policy, Obama was pretty Bush light. I think he got had by all this talk of pre-conditions on meeting with North Korea. Trump did it though and deserves credit where its due.

We'll see about Trump. I think he is mature enough not to get carried away by his boisterousness. Oddballs seem empowered by him. Either I'm under reading the code or they are seeing cracks. After the Fergus riots (go figure, riots under Obama), after the riots a lot of local white supremacists came out from under their covers. Made me think the rioters were right, even if their tactics were idiotic.

You post your opinions well though. This place is full of name calling fools. I'm sure we could work together on something. Thank you very much for taking the time to type all that!

Even in Sweden, seizing the banks was not an act of socialism but an act of pragmatism. Business runs on credit and when credit contracts, as it did during the financial crisis, the real economy contracts and we have a recession. The only way to prevent the recession is to expand credit beyond the ability of the banks to do it during the crisis, and the only way to do this quickly is for the government to take over the function of the banks in one way or another. Even in Sweden, seizing the banks was an act of pragmatism, not an act of socialism, and the proof of this is that as soon as the crisis was over, the Swedish government sold the banks back to private investors.

Unemployment was down under Obama because, according to his own Labor Department, so many people gave up all hope of finding a job and left the workforce. Month after month the Labor Department reported job creation under Obama was so anemic that there were not enough new jobs to accommodate the new people coming into the workforce. There have been no such reports since Trump became President. In other words, unemployment was down under Obama because people just gave up trying to find jobs but it is down under Trump because the economy is now producing more new jobs than there are new people entering the workforce. All of this is clear from the monthly jobs reports from the Labor Department.

Illegal immigration can be mostly stopped by building the smart fence the President wants along the Mexican border, but the Democrats oppose it; by tightening the vetting process for issuing visas, which the President is doing but the Democrats oppose it; by hunting down and deporting people who overstay their visas, which the President is doing but the Democrats oppose it. America's illegal immigration problem is spelled D-e-m-o-c-r-a-t-s.

America does not have a depopulation problem. Several developed countries, mostly in Europe, do, but the US does not. Under our present laws which were developed by the most liberal US government in history, in which LBJ was in the WH and the Democrats controlled both houses of Congress, a foreigner can only emigrate to the US if he has skills or talents the US needs or he has close relatives who are US citizens and will sponsor him. How would you change that?

Obama was an unmitigated foreign policy disaster. After the Pentagon told him very clearly that if he pulled US troops out of Iraq, the country would go up in flames, he lied to the American people and said Iraq no longer needed US troops there because he was afraid of going into the 2012 elections without keeping his 2008 promise to pull the troops out, and we can trace the rise of ISIS, the wars in both Iraq and Syria, the hundreds of thousands of people killed in those war and millions who were made homeless refugees and the Russian presence on the Mediterranean directly to Obama's very cynical and self serving decision to ignore the consequences of withdrawing the troops. Everything Obama touched in the ME was turned into a disaster by him.

Our present problems with Russia all originated in the Democrats' cynical efforts to with the 2016 election by dishonestly trying to tie Trump to the Russians and has continued, despite the absolute absence of any evidence in order to try to win more elections; by doing this the Democrats have created a political atmosphere that makes it impossible for any kind of constructive negotiations with Russia and there are no solutions to the problems in the ME or eastern Europe without constructive negotiations between the US and Russia. Everything Obama touched he turned into a disaster.
