That is essentially the White House explanation for why President Obama opted against a visit to the country's besieged southern border during his trip to Texas this week.

Frustrated White House officials have argued privately that Republicans in Congress would have criticized the president had he decided to see the crisis on the border first-hand.

"I'm not interested in photo ops. I'm interested in solving a problem," Obama said in response to the uproar over his Texas itinerary.

Instead of personally viewing the "humanitarian situation," as the White House now describes the border emergency, the president chose to add a brief meeting on the crisis with Texas Governor Rick Perry and other elected officials in Dallas on Wednesday.

"And those who say I should visit the border, when you ask them what should we be doing, they're giving us suggestions that are embodied in legislation that I've already sent to Congress," the president told reporters.

Republican critics have seized on the White House decision to pass on a border visit in favor of keeping an extensive fundraising schedule as an example of a detached, out-of-touch president.

GOP critics still complain about some of the barbs included in Obama's 2011 remarks at the Chamizal National Memorial in El Paso.

"You know, they said we needed to triple the Border Patrol. Or now they're going to say we need to quadruple the Border Patrol," Obama said at the time about his Republican critics.

"Or they'll want a higher fence. Maybe they'll need a moat. Maybe they want alligators in the moat. They'll never be satisfied."

While Texas Governor Rick Perry is busy looking presidential securing the Texas border Obama is busy swilling beer and doing photo-ops.

I have a suggestion. Let Gov. Perry switch jobs with Obama. Better yet, let Obama just continue to party and let Perry take over the White House.

Perry said that since 2007 there have been 624,000 crimes committed in Texas alone by illegals. He said the Border Patrol has been pulled 45 miles away from the border by the administration. Perry has videos of home invasions by illegals with shotguns to prove that the borders are out of control. So basically, he's decided to take matters into his own hands. It's like a scene from the Middle-East along the border. They're capturing people from Yemen, Pakistan, and other Middle-Eastern countries all of the time.

Obama pisses me off because he doesn't give a damn about our security. He thinks this is all some big friggen joke. He's just taking up space or getting in the way while everything goes to hell.

You go ahead and do whatever, I have a party to go to.

BTW, Obama sent a bunch of paper-pushers, not armed highly trained officers to patrol the border.

Perry asked Obama for some help. Obama refused. He said he could use the 1000 extra bodies.

Lets don't give a frigging dime... How about that? Why don't we fix the problem first? You fix problems before your start cleaning up the mess. Make the border look like Iraq for a while. Completely militarize it. It is a war and must be treated as such

That excuse is literally worn out.

They looked at the list of reasons Obama submitted for the money and none of it is verifiable. They would be giving him a blank check. First it was $2 billion. Now it's $3.7 billion. He figured they'll say no anyway.

Obama doesn't want to do anything. He asked for money simply so he could delay action and shed the blame onto congress. It's not serious.

Obama does what he wants to, when he wants to. This fiddlefarting around is a delay tactic, not a serious attempt to fix the problem. He won't allow congress the oversight they are by law guaranteed. Nobody in their right mind would give him a cent without verification. It's like signing a bill you haven't even read.

When I was in the Army on a team this guy Obama would be labeled a dirtbag.

He would have been fired inside a month and all of his gear dumped in the hall and the locks to the teamroom changed.
