Obama.. Flaming out..

If the object of the GM bailout was government control of the means of production and distribution of GM vehicles, why is the Federal Government going to give up its ownership of 61% of GM stock?

DETROIT — Thirteen months ago, General Motors was fighting for its life in bankruptcy court. Now, the automaker is laying the groundwork to sell stock to the public once again with the eventual goal of ridding itself of government ownership.

Dude, you've been pwned so many times in this thread that I don't know whether you are misinformed or merely a troll. Give it up. The gov't takeover of GM is one of the best-reported things out there. It happened. It's bad. The fact that they now want to go and cash in their ill gotten gains is irrelevant.

You're talking about the Left? Yes, they have absorbed the Big Lie technique from Stalin and "others." Keep hammering it and someone somewhere will believe it. That's why we still hear about "Bush stole 2000." And "Bush lied us into war." All of these have been disproven many many times over. Yet the Left persists. The new one obviously is "The gov't did not take over GM."

By your own quoted words GM is owned by the government idiot.

Your so fond of definitions, shall we look at the what ownership means?

Ownership is the state or fact of exclusive rights and control over property, which may be an object, land/real estate or intellectual property.

Ownership - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The blind cannot see, you simply refuse to do so.

If the object of ownership was to control the means of production and operate it for the benefit of the people, why is the government going to give up it's ownership?

It was an experiment in socialism, allowed by great stress on the economy. Having done it oncem it will used again and on a larger scale next time, because the pattern has been established.

Because there's more to be gained by selling the stock in an election year than holding it. The point has been made: No American company is immune from takeover by the Fed Gov.

well said.

Plus, the federal gov. abrogated financial mechanisms and contracts put in place for years, bondholders, pension plans and a plethora of GMs other creditors/investors only received 10% in equity back.

Those bond holders and investors in GM had taken less return over the years, in exchange for security, if the co. went belly up they were first in line, instead, they got put to the back of the line, they got screwed for 10 cents on the dollar and the UAW Bondholders were given far more equity.

Trajan is right. Obama is the most ideological president we've had. He is incapable of working with people on the conservative side (he's incapable of working with liberals too, but thats another story). He is the worst president ever. He will remain so, getting worse because his abilities are substandard and he has no powers to reach beyond his worldview. So he will always pick the worst course of action in any situation.

Gotta admit, he makes Jimmy Carter look like a tough guy. That's pretty hard to do!

Obama is tough. Don't let him fool you on that. Unfortunately he's tough when he needs to be conciliatory and he's tough in a way that alienates people, instead of bringing them over to his side.
LBJ was tough but knew how to kiss ass and kick ass to get what he wanted.
And this guy is no LBJ.

He wears Mommy pants, can't bowl, and throws like a girl. His photo ops show him hanging curtains.

He most certainly is not tough in the good way.
