Obama Fires His First Round At Fort Sumter

Good Goddess, I can't believe how gullible you people are sometimes. Obama literally CANNOT make a "recess appointment" when Congress is not recessed. The term refers to an appointment made WHILE Congress is recessed, which bypasses the need for ratification but only temporarily. A "recess appointment" isn't some different TYPE of appointment, it's a plain-old appointment distinguished only by WHEN it's made.

As long as Congress is in session, all he can do is indicate that he INTENDS to do so. Which is not illegal, of course. Your silly sources are alleging a crime on the part of the president that is literally impossible to commit.

What next, are you going to accuse him of breaking the law of gravity?

If the GOP was reasonable he would not have to resort to extraordinary measures. With congress frozen in a bog of partisan bullshit the president must do what he can to move forward. Good for him, shame on the GOP.

If the GOP were reasonable, Obama would not resort to breaking the law?????

Do you even hear yourself?

Are recess appointments against the law? Are pro forma sessions actually sessions? Let's let the republicans either bring numerous legal challenges and therefore perhaps cut their own throats down the road or shut the hell up and find something else to destroy or hold for ransom.

They are when congress hasn't reccessed you freaking moron!

If obummer does this he can expect a LOT LESS money to be loaned.. good job obummer.

Of course it is amusing to hear Democrats praising Obama for acting like a cowboy.

It will make it easier for us once we get the White House back.

Dems will have NOTHING to complain about. EVER again. Of course they'll keep complaining. But they won't have a legal or moral leg to stand on.

We really need another layer of bureacracy?????

It's not like there aren't already a dozen agencies with the same obligations.

Well the loss of trillions in the wealth of the middle and lower classes says we do.

My 401K lost 50K as Bush was leavin' office.

Ask Darrell Issa. :D

I think it should be more like if the GOP wasn't so concentrated on BREAKING the laws of this country, Obama wouldn't have to break them to keep them in line. Still doesn't excuse Obama.

No, they aren't. They're IMPOSSIBLE when Congress hasn't recessed. Obama isn't going to make a "recess appointment" while Congress isn't in session, for the same reason he isn't going to flap his arms and fly like a birdie.

Good grief.

The opposition party is under no obligation to rubber-stamp the President's wishes.

Were you similarly outraged when Democrats in Congress didn't do what Bush wanted?

No, of course not.

You may want Obama to be king, but we don't. You may want to be a subject, we we're citizens.

No. Congress is in session. If he makes an appointment now, it's not a "recess appointment." The most he can do is say that he's going to.

well then, he cannot make an appointment at all, the most he can do is recommend someone and let congress vote up or down,, but that's not what he did,, he made an appointments which is not the way things are done so that makes him an asswipe from son up til son down..

The House needs to withhold funding for the new agency, let Obama use his stash for it

Exactly, dont even recognize the agency, stop all funding, and start the impeachment process.
Then again I am sure that is what Obama wants anyways, no better way to stir up a revolution than to get his base fired up over him being impeached. I predicted as much this time last year, that we would not make it to November 6th election day due to some manufactured crisis created by the left that would suspend the constitution and elections.

It appears that Obama specifically chose to do the recess appointment today as a slap at the people we elected to have checks and balances over him, ergo a slap at us. He could have done it yesterday when the Senate was in recess but did not. He seems intent on proving that he doesn't have to honor any of the traditional boundaries of his office.

You do know that the Senate confirms appointees, and that the Dems control the senate - including when it is in/not in session - right?

But hey! Let's not let the truth get in the way of some good partsan bigotry.

And if he is left unchecked he will successfully set case precedent for future Marxist presidents to do the same, hence fundamentally changing America.

Well, if they could do this without GOP support then why where they griping here?

Bottom line is, Obama is out of pocket here, and he should be impeached for violating the law.
