Didn't the polls tell us McCain would be President?
He leads all potential GOP rivals.
In hypothetical matchups for the general election, the president runs ahead of all seven potential GOP rivals tested in the new poll.
If the election were held now, Romney and Huckabee would mount the stiffest challenges, trailing Obama by four and six percentage points respectively, among all Americans as well as among registered voters.

The Truth is no poll at anytime had McCain Winning. At least not any reliable Main stream Polls.
Obama took the lead from the start and never gave it up.
Gas prices are the key. It gas hits $6.00 a gallon next year, Obama is gone. Even if he can do nothing about them, gas prices will dictate the next President. In light of that, Republicans have the upper hand, as gas prices increase.

I love polls.
This one is really interesting. In a country that is roughly 34/35/31
Republican/Democratic/Independent they poll a sample that is 32/22/41 and find that Obama leads by less than about 5%. Somehow you see this as proof
that the Republicans don't have a chance, while everyone with half a brain
sees it as a sign that Obama is in serious trouble.

You're right, anyone with only half a brain would see that. But people with a fully developed brain would see republicans have no viable candidate. 2016 is what you should focus on. Rubio might be a strong candidate but he is a secret Cuban communist and I am going to need to see his full original birth certificate to believe he is an American.
