Republican politicians have been laying off government workers, teachers, police and firemen to make the number artificially high

The true figure should be below 6

Yeah, the Republicans wanted the economy to tank.

That's why it happened after the Dems took complete control of Congress.

The only economic collapse that were similar in magnitude to our current economy occurred under FDR and Reagan. Both Reagan and FDR were allowed to expand the government workforce to shore up employment

Fact is the BLS uses assumptions to base their figures from. None of it is fact, merely probabilities.

Problem with this latest figure it doesn't jib with the rest of the economic numbers already known. With anemic growth how does one account for a surge of over 800,000 jobs right in time for the election?

Answer: You can't.

Regardless, you folks are dreaming. The election is going bad for you and I'm afraid Obama is panicking. Nobody but the most adamant Obama followers even believe the numbers at all. They're raising suspicions and fears that Obama will stoop at nothing to get his way. The lack of trust is driving away independent voters in massive numbers.

Add to that his lackluster performance everyone is getting the feeling Obama doesn't like his job. He has no intention of improving the economy. That would mean he would have to work for once. His admission that he was bored during his preparations for the debate. He doesn't care enough to study so why should we care about re-electing him?

When it didn't drop a few months ago I thought they would play it straight
and let the numbers tell the story.

Then Obama's dismal performance in the debate got the cell phones going and then
they found a way to get the numbers to fall their way.

All the experts on Wall Street who are good at this had no inkling based on economic principles that this was going to happen.

But they got the number below that magic threshold of 8%....

This Obama campaign team has a deep playbook to run plays from and they have government and the media behind them...A sweet combination.

yes, of course....they have 2 months to continue gathering data and make revisions, AS THEY HAVE HAD every month that bls has reported on U/E....during ALL presidencies.

Obama has nothing to do with the data that comes in that bls reports on this....

When libs start questioning it, you know there's a dead fish in there someplace. Too many major companies have had massive layoffs or closed.

We need 129,000 new jobs a month just to keep up with population growth and people entering the labor market. They claimed 114,000 new jobs were created, which was merely a projection. A projection that will most likely be downgraded later.

The way they were able to get the drop by revising up July, and August's job numbers.
