As Hurricane Sandy approaches the East Coast, President Obama is shuffling his schedule as he attempts to simultaneously manage the storm's impact and campaign for a second term. The White House put out the following statement to reporters on Saturday night:

On Monday, following the event in Youngstown, OH, the President will return to the White House to continue to monitor Hurricane Sandy, which is currently forecasted to make landfall along the Eastern seaboard late that day. As a result, the events in Northern Virginia on Monday and in Colorado Springs on Tuesday have been cancelled. Additional changes to Tuesday's schedule will be announced as warranted.

The President is being regularly updated on the storm and ongoing preparations, and he has directed his team to continue to bring all available resources to bear as state and local partners continue to prepare for the storm. FEMA has already deployed teams and has pre-staged resources to potentially affected states and areas ahead of the storm, and FEMA remains in close contact with emergency responders in states up and down the East coast to ensure there are no unmet needs. The President will continue to receive regular briefings on these efforts, and has made clear that he expects his team to continue to lean forward as Hurricane Sandy approaches.

One was a strong hurricane that passed over a place with an incompetent mayor and governor where people choose to live in a fish bowl. The other will be a big rainstorm. Yeah nothing in common.

I'm sure it won't be a clusterfuck like Bush's Katrina disaster was.

That was the fault of New Orleans officials. They dropped the ball and blamed Bush to cover their asses.

Now, too bad Obama couldn't have the same concern for our people in Benghazi. That situation should have been tracked and he should have received updates on the situation.

He'd rather sit with his hurricane tracking chart and promise that agencies will do what they are supposed to. He likes the easy stuff where he doesn't have to make any tough decisions or risk offending terrorists.

Romney Cancels Virginia Campaign Stops Due to Hurricane Sandy - Manassas, VA Patch

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has canceled his scheduled stops in Virginia Sunday in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, according to his campaign.

Romney was scheduled to visit Battlefield High School in Haymarket Sunday as well as Richmond and Virginia Beach.

Campaign officials said that after consulting with Gov. Bob McDonnell the move to cancel Sunday's visit was "cautionary."

The Romney Ryan campaign is collecting donations in preparation for storm relief efforts at Virginia campaign office locations, officials said. The supplies will be distributed to relief centers in the area, the campaign said.

The campaign is asking for the following donations:

Bottled Water
Non-perishable food items, such as beef jerky, granola bars, peanut butter, etc.

At least Maobama can blame Sandy when he gets his ass handed to him on 6 Nov. That should make him happy, another place to point a finger.

Stupid it was the town of New Orleans that failed they did not do what they were supposed to do. There is a plan preset with local authority's and fema New Orleans did not follow that plan

I wonder how many fundraisers he had to postpone for this?

darn the bad luck huh

Romney will keep on campaigning.

Why wouldn't he? He's not the president.

Frankly, there is no logistical reason for Obama to stop campaigning. He's only doing it because he knows he'll be criticized if he doesn't.
