Obama blames politics for delay on immigration

Let's get some sanity into this discussion.

(1) The Border can be secured in at least a year. No more than that if the administration moves tomorrow. Anyone who argues against this knows that s/he is arguing straw proposals.

(2) To suggest that Americans can are going to take the jobs of illegals without the wages going up is simply not the truth.

(3) Neither party wants the illegals to go home: GOP wants cheap labor for Big Business, Dems want future voters.

Is he EVER going to take responsibility...FOR ANYTHING????

Well, of course he will take responsibility for anything that goes well... Everything that goes wrong is the fault of Republicans and everything that goes right is because the Messiah did it....Sheeze... This is getting old.

He's been President for 1.5 years, has control of the house and Senate, and still can't anything done... He had to buy off votes in his own party to get health care done... He is an embarrassment.

There hasn't been serious immigration policy since Ronald Reagan's amnesty. Lots of politicians have come and gone since then, with all talk and no action. Duh...

MM, did you listen or read his 'speech'? He came out and practically said that he was going to try and get done what Bush tried to get done. Then admitted he probably couldn't.

This is all politics, not a serious attempt at reform or national security.

When talking about illegal aliens, President Obama said:
"The overwhelming majority of these men and women are simply seeking a better life for
themselves and their children."

Clearly, President Obama is either not aware that, or does not care that, there are 15 million unemployed Americans who are "simply seeking a better life for themselves and their children" by looking for a job. He must also be unaware that 8 million illegal aliens have full-time jobs, thereby keeping 8 million Americans out of work. Any amnestying of these illegal aliens would prevent millions of American families from attaining a "better life."

I heard it was hire than that the IRS knows where more like 18 million fraudulent social security cards where used by illegal workers.

Has "amnesty" even been defined in an Obama immigration plan? And what exactly do you propose that Obama do to put 8 million Americans back to work? Perhaps he needs to nationalize all businesses, because he certainly can't FORCE businesses to hire any other way. He's already provided millions in hiring incentives, and if businesses don't want to take advantage of those, then I say they too are just playing politics and would rather close their doors than admit that those incentives help. Guess what...those 8 million unemployed are pissed off at BUSINESS, not the government which has bent over backward to help them.

By what mechanism? How would you do it? Frankly, it sounds like you're pipe-dreaming.

Of course it can, but it has to work with punishing businesses harshly and immigration reform.

You're not answering the question. How would you secure the border in at least a year? Where would you find the manpower to do it? You don't sound like you're being serious.

Americans are going to blame the GOP this fall right across the board, because the Dems will play off the recession would be far worse without the policies of the last eighteen months.

Of course it can be done. Why can't it be done? Nothing prevents the President and the four governors joining forces to draw up goals, allocate resources, and apply the fix.

OK, you really aren't serious. If you don't understand what I'm talking about then refer to my first post on this thread.

I read your post. It is flawed, it has a silly and obvious agenda, and it's not true.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg describes in simple terms what an immigration bill needs to look like. (Wait for his interview with Andrea Mitchell, about a minute in.)

Remind me the last time Republicans took the blame for anything they did wrong? It's a two way street. Please don't pretend like republicans are perfect.

Your right, it is getting old.

Great comeback.... "Oh yeah well the Republicans did this"... Give me a break already....What is this grade school??????

You're not being serious. You basically told us that if the President has a meeting with a bunch of bureaucrats where they set goals then the problem will be solved very quickly. That's not a serious argument. You just don't seem to have any idea what law enforcement is really about.

Republicans rarely screw things up to take blame for. Some liberal repubs do, but its rare. Everything the libs and socialists do screws up our country, but they never own up to it.

Also, when Republicans are caught cheating or the like they are usually booted from the party in disgrace, unlike Dems who just ignore any wrong-doing by their own.

No one is saying Republicans are perfect, but when one party is right 95% of the time and the other is wrong 95% of the time, its easy to see who should take the blame for screwing things up.

Hell, the Dems had a Klansman as their elder statesman! And their other hero had a male prostitution ring running out of his apartment!

But this is OK.... Because they are Democrats...:lol:

You may not agree with Obama but he has got some major legislation passed. The healthcare bill is the most important piece of healthcare legislation since Medicare. The financial reform bill is the most significant financial regulation since the 30's. If he gets immigration reform through, he will have done what none of his predecessors could do. The Republicans can't allow him this victory. Irregardless of what's in the immigration bill, Republicans will vote against it.

So even if the majority of people in the country are against what he is doing, it's a good thing that he did it????:cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

A majority elected him president. He had promised to do it from day one of his campaign. We get what the country voted for in '08. Welcome to democracy.
