If ALL citizens and residents of the US were required to take this oath, not just immigrants, I wonder if more people might actually take their rights and responsibilities of citizenship seriously, as any other official or officer of the law sworn to defend this country under the Constitution. And how many people would fail at this commitment and thus be forced out, including half of Congress!
