Nudity

No. Nudity is not wrong.

It's funny, the more repressive a society becomes, the more people seem to have fetishes.

Japan is prime example of that.

Maybe 1% of the population looks good naked.

The rest of us should probably keep it covered up.

Perhaps, but from a societal standpoint, we seem to be hung up on nudity in a way we never were in the past. Europe doesn't have the same prudish hangups - just America.

Try the Victorian Era if you want to see hang ups on human nature and how it was wrong to discuss your own daughters under wear.

Here people still whisper when they say 'diarrhea.'

No, but they're not very good at gerrymandering.

(Insert your preferred Deity here) knows that it's not for lack of trying.

They are f*cking nuts...ever see the documentary "Girl Model" -

it is disturbing/difficult to watch. The model agencies use super skinny - super young desperate girls from Russia and ship them to Japan to model for men. Many of them become prostitutes WHILE they work for the modeling agency which turns a blind eye.
The Japanese fetish for girls who are/look 13 years old is so wide spread that they consider it normal...as long as no one is looking, and no one talks about it.

:clap2: I never feel better than when my body is without any clothing at all. What a wonderful feeling and if a fan is blowing close by, that is the proverbial icing on the cake.....for me.

It's all connected to this gerrymandered, over influenced by fundamentalist prudes world we find ourselves in.

Yet it isn't the fundamentalists at all. This driven by what I call the "Tipper Gore Left." I brought up my German immigrant grandparents for a reason - you don't get more fundamentalist than they were, damned near fanatical. Still, nudity wasn't seen as a big deal. In Germany, with 30 people sharing a house, you were going to see each other naked. And the thought of buying a child a bathing suit to swim in was beyond absurd.

America has the strangest culture on the planet IMO. Uber-hypocritical and overly judgmental.
On one hand, people would freak out and call Child Services if someone had their toddler naked in their front yard swimming pool - but think nothing of these child beauty contest that parade girls around in full make up and skimpy outfits at 5 & 6 years old. How freaking crazy is that?

Excellent point. I am actively creeped out by "Toddlers in Tiaras. "

wasting a crumb of food was punishable in my German grandparents house but baths were taken in a washtub in the public kitchen.

Very creepy.

But what's even creepier are the people (especially the men) who attend these contests.

Got your attention, didn't I?

But this is a serious question; is nudity wrong, and something we should be ashamed of?

When I was young, in the 1960's, nudity was no big deal. People ran around without clothes on a fairly regular basis.

I remember when my German Baptist grandparents bought land in Northern California, before the house was built while we were visiting, there were 20 people bathing in the creek, all naked. Men, women, children.

Nudity of children particularly was common. Kids swam naked all the time. In fact, until 12 or 13, no one thought anything of naked kids running around.

Somewhere along the line, attitudes changed and America became the prude of all prudes. This is strange, since it coincided with the rise of pornography - as if porn is okay, but nudity verboten. I can't help wonder if there is a connection, if the porn sullied the sight of a human body? Especially in regard to children, if the rise of porn sexualized what was never sexual in the past?

So, is the human body in and of itself "dirty?" Is the current obsession with stamping out nudity - especially among teens who text pictures of themselves to each other, a sign of societal sickness?

Thoughts?
You answered your own question. Everything has become sexualized through advertising, etc., and people react accordingly.

To me the best feeling is working up a dirty sweat outside and then showering off with the hose. No need to track dirty clothes in to the house for 'privacy', either.

The only thing worse than having to strip off dirty, sweaty work clothes is having to rinse sand out of your shorts at the beach. Haulover ROCKS!

So basically money is the root of all evil ? :eusa_whistle:

Here in Florida it's the blue-haired church ladies standing between us and more clothing optional beaches.... perhaps things are different behind the orange curtain.

Yep, here in the Peoples Republic, it is the left who have gone in an shut down all the nude beaches. There are no legal ones in California.

Sad, maybe, but according to wiki there are at least 40 in California. So I guess Eunuch2008 is lying.

The thought of him naked makes me gag, btw.
