Now that Obama has Blamed the Republicans

Can't wait to see Dimocrat bipartisanship working with Republicans on those nuclear power plants and offshore drilling for oil and natural gas Barry said we need.

Wasn't McDonnell on his side on the off-shore thing..... wasn't that what he said they plan to do in Virginia?

Obama said in 2000 the US had a 200 billion dollar surplus - fact.

Obama said when he took office the deficit was over a trillion dollars - fact.

Obama said policies of de-regulation, tax breaks for corporations and two tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans while waging two wars didn't work for 8 years, why should they work now?

No where did Obama mention Bush or the Republicans. But, if the Republicans feel they were being blamed, then it's because they know they ARE to blame.

There, glad I could clear that up.

Why do Republicans feel we could cut taxes, cut corporate taxes and escalate two wars? That is so obviously stupid, it borders on retarded. How can they possibly defend such a position?

If you feed 'em, they'll breed.

1) Not fact, and proven to you idiots SO many times it is getting aggravating
2) Obama, like you, is using word play. Please read up on ALL the groups that received tax breaks. Please not too that tax breaks need to be coupled with spending cuts, which Bush did not do.. and hell, I don't think spending cuts are in Obama's or any lefty's vocabulary
3) Obama responded to a large deficit by INCREASING IT

You cleared up nothing but your hyper-partisanship

What did he say different than last year? Now he's going to make unemployment his priority? Let's see if he can f- THAT up as good as he's done healthcare.

Unemployment in a way is his priority. He wants more of it. REALLY!!!

All of his policies are geared to causing jobs to go away making us poorer and putting us under the governments thumb.

He's not gonna really focus on jobs or the economy. He's just saying that to get some of the heat off his behind.

His focus is health care. That's the key to enslaving us. If he can't get that then he's failed. Once he gets that he was gonna nationalize the oil and energy industry.

He couldn't help accusing the Republicans of getting in the way. Yet he still has 60 votes as we speak in the Senate. What's been stopping him all of this time? Not the Republicans. Scott Brown has not even taken his seat officially and he's already blaming them.

pfffffffft

He is focusing on all of it, he has no choice. So you feel that healthcare reform is not necessary? You are in the minority on that one.

Republicans are getting in the way, on purpose... Democrats just have to start steamrolling over them to get things moving. Democrats will still have 59 after the centerfold takes his seat, enough to get a lot accomplished if they're smart.

You say that "Republicans are getting in the way, on purpose.." and Democrats just have to start steamrolling over them to get thing moving." I think this is an interesting concept. They have had the rule in both Houses of Congress for the last year and could have passed any law they wanted to pass. The Republicans couldn't stop them for doing any of it because of the Democratic majority. The fact that the Democrats can't get their shit together shouldn't be blamed on the Republicans. At this point they are not a factor. The Democrats are their own worst enemy and you can blame the Republicans all you want to but it simply ain't so.

I would say given the fact that blaming Republicans for his and his parties failures is ludicrous were I them I would be angry and dig in my heals but then I am just that way. The fact is the Republicans have been in the minority and have been LOCKED OUT of all the debates and decision making so how can they be to blame? Talk about spineless scapegoating. JMHO

You must be watching a different show than that rest of us.

I agree. And that's why the Democratic base is angry with Obama for constantly trying this bipartisan crap when Republicans want him to fail. Screw the Republicans. We can't afford to return to their failed policies that got us to where we are in the first place.

We didn't have a "surplus"? Republicans didn't increase our deficit by over a trillion dollars? A tax break of a hundred dollars is equal to a tax break of 5 million? :cuckoo:

Ok, if you say so.:eusa_whistle:

The Dems have purposely left the Reps out and met behind closed doors and then Oshameus blames the Reps, typical Dems not taking responsibility. The Health care bill has nothing to do with health care it is all about Gov't controll.

Why should Republicans care? Only 6% of scientists are Republican. Nuclear power plants will be designed and built by Democrats.

Obama made a great speech last night; great for guaranteeing record Dem House losses in 2010, I think a swing of 100 is probably better than 50/50 right now, and if he's lucky, he'll get to complete his term.

How the fuck can he still complain about how bad things were/are? I mean wasn't he a grown up campaigning for a big job at the time? The little boy act is cute with maybe about 380 parts per million people in the country

You guys have been predicting huge Democratic losses every election. It isn't going to happen this time either.

What have Republicans done to deserve being swept into office in droves? That's what it will take, you know.

the republicans sucked at running the government so the people decided to give the democrats a try

surprisingly, they suck at running the government too

they both suck. Obama himself admitted MOST people don't like government

For the crises were in, will they suck it in and make a change, or buck up and cause more problems?

What did he say different than last year? Now he's going to make unemployment his priority? Let's see if he can f- THAT up as good as he's done healthcare.

He has definitely made unemployment very popular this past year

Here he is in all his arrogance, with his fundamental change ideas

"Reforming our government so it is more efficient, more transparent" ~Barack Obama!~

what a piece of work that guy is

For the crises were in, will they suck it in and make a change, or buck up and cause more problems?

Look I don't like the Obama plan or objective for America. I think the healthcare plan is an abomination. Taxes never seem to go down and illegal immigration is NEVER on the agenda for Open Door Obama. His cap and trade agenda on the fallacy of global warming is puzzling. However, it is beyond ignorant to think that what happens in a previous administration doesn't have any effect on today.

The mortgage market BLEW UP. The credit markets blew up. The student loan market blew up. Banks stopped lending to small businesses. That didn't happen over-night. It started with Jimmey Carter (Community Reinvestment Act) and was rapidly escalated with Clinton and foolishly ignored by Bush when all the clear tale signs were in his face. IF Bush was able to bring this to light 5 years ago and combat it (even back then we were seeing RECORD foreclosures), the mortgage meltdown would have been less harsh.

Believe it or not there was LITTLE he or anyone could do to avoid the negative effects once the bubble bursts. Massive unemployment was absolutely inevitable. No one could have prevented it.

The mortgage meltdown took many years of bad financial policies before it blew up. It nearly took down our entire economy. Its beyond ARROGANCE to say suck a collective fuck up could be fixed in 1 year. Heck even after 3 years, it might be IMPOSSIBLE to get back on track!

Ok, if you say so.:eusa_whistle:

Clinton simply his his extra spending in the intergovernmental spending categories.... our debt increased each and every year under Clinton, no exceptions. We have not had a surplus since 1958 (I believe that is the correct date, but I will have to double check if you do not believe it)

I did not say that the deficit has not increased... every year under EVERY President..

Tax breaks were given to more than just the 'rich'... a person making 50K is not going to get a tax break of 5MIL, but a break of $500 or $1K does impact them greatly... but then again I want equal % taxation for every citizen on every dollar earned, for a return to equal treatment under the law.. instead of a punishment based system where MANY in this country pay no income tax whatsoever

I think blaming the Republicans is exactly what he did. If you listen to his speech, he gives out the usual utterly monotonous lines. "This debt was here before I came in office." "We have to start putting our party affiliation aside and start becoming one as a unit." "Just don't forget... If you critcize me too much, I am black and can make you look like a racist (Okay, Maybe not that one.).
The republicans are probably going to put up their guard some more. It was a brash speech from our dictator... COUGH!... I meant, president.

So tell us, please, which part of this isn't true?

"One year ago, I took office amid two wars, an economy rocked by a severe recession, a financial system on the verge of collapse, and a government deeply in debt. Experts from across the political spectrum warned that if we did not act, we might face a second depression. So we acted -– immediately and aggressively. And one year later, the worst of the storm has passed."

Boy you people must be blind, deaf and dumb. He didn't assign blame only to Republicans, he did factually explain what happened last year, previous years to that and what he expects going forward.

Cons are suddenly so overly sensitive having anything negative said about their run with power. Telling... Defensive...

The speech was hard hitting, he looked like a leader, confident and telling it like it is.

Sheesh!

Not to worry. A majority approve of and/or are encouraged by what he had to say. These comments by the usual grumblers shouldn't be surprising.

the dems have held a majority for three years and they have done nothing.....suddenly the gop is in their way.....how the fuck is that possible all they need to do is all vote together and they pass whatever they want....

for the self proclaimed smart party they sure are inept....

Ask any Republican or whatever they call themselves these days for a different solution and they come up with the same ones that didn't work before (which Obama also alluded to). Even McDonnell's response was loaded with conservative ideological platitudes, and zero solutions. They do love those platitudes...use them to get elected, then drop the ball.

Bob McDonnell's GOP Response: Full Text - CBS News

...Good government policy should spur economic growth, and strengthen the private sector’s ability to create new jobs.

...We must enact policies that promote entrepreneurship and innovation, so America can better compete with the world.

...What government should not do is pile on more taxation, regulation, and litigation that kill jobs and hurt the middle class.

...It was Thomas Jefferson who called for "A wise and frugal Government which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry ….and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned…" He was right.

...America will always blaze the trail of opportunity and prosperity.

...America must always be a land where liberty and property are valued and respected, and innocent human life is protected.

...Government should have this clear goal: Where opportunity is absent, we must create it. Where opportunity is limited, we must expand it. Where opportunity is unequal, we must make it open to everyone.

...Our Founders pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to create this nation.

...Now, we should pledge as Democrats, Republicans and Independents--Americans all---to work together to leave this nation a better place than we found it.

BUT WHERE'S THE BEEF???

Sheesh!

There's got to be a time when he stops blaming his failures on the past. This is HIS economy now. In my opinion he's simply playing the victim card, something his kind does all too often.

He needs to continue to explain it because too many dummies don't *get it* that this economic implosion DID NOT happen overnight and it WILL NOT fix itself overnight either by just relying on the private sector because the private sector is also in the toilet!! It's a fucking no brainer. It took a decade or more to evolve, and it will take a decade or more to correct the course.
